    The Brooke Lopez stuff is wild. He does one thing well and the rest of the team lets him thrive in that role. If you throw that guy on a bad defense, you still have a bad defense.

    Maybe I’m a bit naive, but I always felt DPOY was just that, are they the best defensive player. No politics, no “story lines or narratives”, no fluff, just real hoops fans pragmatically picking the best defensive player. Especially when it isn’t as “sexy” of an award, you don’t have the average fan clamoring for “more defense”.

    But for some reason, it really does seem, especially after Marcus Smart won it, that it’s way more of political glamor award than I thought. Again, maybe I’m just naive and it’s been like that for awhile, I just only notice it now because our boy may get robbed of it, but if he doesn’t win, it does show it’s this weird political thing where Mobley just needs to get more “name recognition” etc before people pay him his respects, which is just silly to me.
