[O’Connor] League sources say the Hawks’ front office has the green light from ownership to do whatever it wants to with the roster, which includes considering trade opportunities involving All-Star point guard Trae Young.

Murray is right there. I wonder if Cam Thomas, one of our first this year and a a future first (Suns pick) would do

  2. zestysnacks

I know people are down on trae, but I think adding him to our offense would put us right back into contention. Would probably have to give cam, Joe, a stack of picks something like that. However I think we would have to move Ben to take his contract. So idk

If we can get him for a haul of picks and salary filler then great, but if they want players like Mikal, Clax or even CJ then no i’m good.

Can we maybe cool it? Marks added three stars to the team which ended up badly for the franchise.

    Don’t want him. Doesn’t play D.

If you look at the best player on every title winner, they are 2-way players.

  6. Templar-Order

He’s terrible defensively and will cost too much

  7. lxkandel06

If we can get him for Ben, Cam, and some picks, do it in a heartbeat

  8. BKtoDuval

I liked him in college but there have to be some concerns about coachability issues at this point. Last thing we need is more drama. “Players reportedly sided with the coach over their star player.” That’s a red flag

I’m a Hawks Fan coming in peace. I would hate to see Trae on the Nets because he would be everything we wanted him to be and better. Trae with great spacing took us to the ECF then put up 28 and 10 on 46/38/90 last season and dragged us to the playoffs when we had a lot of injuries. You guys have the perfect team to put around him and cover up his weaknesses.

He’s been struggling this year because of coaching and addition of Dejounte messing up his rhythm, but Trae with 3 and D guys around him and a lob threat is a top 5 offensive player at worst.

He’s also improved his defense massively this season, the last game against y’all was an anomaly compared to the rest of the year defensively. So if I were y’all I’d try to get him but for us, it would be a horrible overreaction and go down years later as a terrible trade for ATL

    Pass.

Learn from the Timberwolves (and Hawks!) mistakes. Going all in on stars who do not come close to putting you over the top in championship contention is a bad idea.

I don’t think Trae is the answer for us. Though I do think if we want to improve we’re eventually going to have to get another star.

Ben Simmons for Trae who says no?

  13. netsfan1000

No thanks. Don’t want him for our current roster even if it costs us nothing.

This is a hard pass. Besides the fact that I do not like his foul bating and would hate to root for it, I think he’s too challenging of a player to build a contender around

    1. He hasn’t shown a willingness to play off ball. This is what makes Steph especially dangerous. The gravity everyone talks about is real. Trae has also had a down shooting year.

    2. His defense is absolutely atrocious. This is something I’m not convinced can be improved on. This makes having to build a team around him super hard

    3. There’s always drama in Atlanta of some sort, particularly with unhappy teammates and coaches

  15. jrtasoli

I never thought I’d say this but I actually think Trae would fit this team better than Luka (though I’m obviously not turning my nose up at either player).

Though I think the cost will be way, way, way too high for the Nets to really consider at this juncture.

That said, offer ‘em Ben Simmons and Cam Thomas and a pick or two. Who knows, maybe Atlanta will bite. Weirder things have happened.

  16. In a perfect world the Nets trade for Trae and Simmons miraculously returns to form and they become contenders with a core of Trae, Simmons, Bridges and Clax.

This is not a perfect world and that will never happen lmao

  17. I’d much rather have murray, but in general I’d rather hold off on star chasing for a bit, let us cool down lol

  18. lorenzoendzone

Anyone not named bridges or Claxton can go if it means we get Trae.

We could send something close to this: multiple picks, Dinwiddie, cam johnson (sign &trade) and a third player for Trae.

It would be great to see the knick killer play in the same town as the Knicks. Imagine the playoff atmosphere

  19. netsfan2002

Also it’s kind of weird considering we probably have to assets to get him(weird in the sense for the last decade we have had virtually no picks lol). Although as much as the sub doesn’t want to hear it, Claxton or Cam Johnson would definitely be included. Also say goodbye to most of the draft capita we got from the trades. To be honest it’s not worth it. Does Trae Young make us a contender? I still don’t see us competing with Boston or Milwaukee. But maybe I’m wrong.

  20. sabascastellon

Dude so overrated. Why would we want an undersized guard who doesn’t shoot that great and is garbage at defense. He just Cam T if Cam knew how to pass.

  21. russokumo

We don’t want this guy. He may fit our team for a lead of role but costs too much and I’m not sure would be that much an upgrade. We are much better waiting for a free agent to walk and having them join us here. It’s New York City after all.
