  1. Rich, this is why everyone is going to start seeing nba fans, staying away from the arena's, and maybe even turn off their tv's,,, the players really believe they have 99% of the power, with their load management, just playing when they want, it cost way to much to go to a game..

  2. Some mathematician years ago came up with a anti-tanking system. The more wins a team has AFTER they have been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs gets higher draft rank. So you'd have to tank for nearly an entire season and THEN start winning. It sounds complicated, but really not anymore than baseball's magic number.

Or, you know, not have over half the league's teams in a f-ing playoff.

  3. Oh stop it.. Portland had the longest stream of making playoffs in the modern era. Lillard had made the playoffs every year. Superstars don't come to Portland so we finally do what other teams do and try to get a good pick. How can teams compete when the league pairs Superstars with other Superstars and leaves 95 percent of the other teams with zero chance to win… NBA is rigged!

  4. Every team plays a home game against every other team in the league.

    That's the schedule.

    No divisions, no conferences.

Top 8 teams make the playoffs. Players get a cut of playoff proceeds if the team gets in.

Everyone else gets equal odds in a lottery.

Tanking won't go away until the league gets rid of perverse incentives.

Eventually, it will have to get rid of the draft and trades, and simply have a hard cap and the buying and selling of contracts.

All that has happened in the current format is that the tanking has risen to the edge of a bloated postseason format.

It's silly to play 82 games to eliminate only 10 of 30 teams. So we're seeing silly outcomes.

  5. The NBA itself deserves to be laughed at. For years they seem against tanking, implementing penalties and such. But then only investigating the Mavericks shows they don’t care about tanking. They care about how discretely you can do it.

  6. Aside from the fact that the NBA supports a murderous regime in China, who has enslaved over a billion people, who has concentration camps in which they are murdering, torturing, and using Ouigur Chinese muslims slave labor in some cases to produce cotton for the NBA players to sell articles of clothing, have invaded and enslaved the nation of Tibet, threaten free China, that is Taiwan, and have invaded India as well, I do not watch the NBA. That the same owner who strongly supports the Tyranny in China for which his association receives billions in return, is simply staying true to his moral character when he throws an NBA game.

  7. I hate America’s new NBA! It’s funny how it nearly mirrors our divided and chaotic society!

It’s supposed to be about entertaining the fans.

  8. I can't even watch the NBA anymore. So gutless and heartless. And the very definition of "Spoiled prima donnas." No competitive integrity by owners or management. They spend half their roster building energy trading these horrible contracts between them, as every one loses.

  9. You can argue Trae vs. Luka all day, but when Luka asks out next summer, it will be evident that the Hawks won the trade.

  10. this season is weird. There are teams that are able to enter the playoffs via play in but they prefer to tank mode for the 1st round pick?? man if VICTOR WEMBANYAMA becomes a bust for sure this is the worst tank mode of NBA teams.

  11. Embarrassed by my hometown Blazers that they promised Lillard they'd build around him but turned around and tanked instead.

But what the Mavs was simply abhorrent. They blatantly tanked, they sent the message to the players that they aren't worried about winning, only front office stuff and money. They're not gonna draft well, they gave future picks away for a hateful moron in Kyrie, and Cuban can't keep a straight face when questions ariae about why the Mavs won't give Luka anything to work with and why Luka and Kidd were visibly upset by the decision.

    Ridiculous

  12. Mavericks fans should be happy they tanked. You think Luka is going to stay if there isn't a big turnaround next year. Trading that pick is the only thing that might keep Luka to stay.

  13. 1. They didn’t control their destiny to make it in the playin. So you saying they just pulled the plug is stupid and you know it.
    2. Anyone who says this bs clearly didn’t pay attention to the Mavs we’re NOT winning games down the stretch. If they were winning games down the stretch it would make sense to try and play for it. They made a move for Kai and it didn’t work because they have 0 defensive players. The plan of flat outscoring other teams didn’t work. Get your assets together and make better team for next year. Anyone saying this stuff you just said is flat dumb and clearly doesn’t have the proper insight.

  14. We can complain about tanking and offer solutions all we want, but there is only one way to fix it: with our dollars and eyeballs. Don't like the league's tanking culture? Stop buying tickets and stop watching games. The latter is especially important with the league's next TV rights deal currently in negotiations and them looking for $7 Billion a year.

Until the League feels it in their wallet, little to no changes to the system will be made.

  15. Why even sign Irving if they're going to give up? The NBA needs to tie the draft lottery to team performance at end of season- not just W/L overall for the season.

  16. Rich wouldn’t know good basketball if it smacked him in the face so I’ll take his basketball opinions with a grain of salt.

  17. And this is why i dont invest my time going to a basketball game. I shouldnt have to gamble money to see star players play. .

  18. The NBA is by far the worst product in sports. There is not even a close second. Unwatchable.

  19. the Jaden McDaniels thing is 1000x worse than the Gobert/Anderson thing. How stupid could you be??
