When he played for the jazz, I had a really good buddy working a local sports radio show. He and the others on the show started referring to him exclusively as The Big Enes (for hilarious reasons). After a month or so, the Jazz and Kanter’s PR teams reached out to the show to tell them call him Enes Kanter and stop using The Big Enes or he wouldn’t participate with that particular radio station.
In honor of that, I say we rename it to “Big Enes Freedom Day”

Is the mayor of Riverton just doing this as a networking opportunity?

Enis was cool when he was in Utah. I remember him sending texts out to the people asking them to join him for lunch or coffee. I admire him for his political stance against his old country. I love his moniker “Freedom”.
