@New Orleans Pelicans

The Pelicans medical staff has cleared Zion Williamson to return for the play-in, but Zion’s camp is holding him back from playing, per @RealSkipBayless. “His step-father is becoming increasingly upset with the Pelicans for the clause in his contract that allows them to weigh him.”

I guess it’s all right to lie in sports media these days..

  2. hardenoverjordan

People gon laugh because it’s skip Bayless but he’s always said he has a inside source in zions camp 🌚

  3. OvenIcy8646

I think this is pretty accurate, after zions yearly season ending injury he blows up like a balloon. I think his camp realizes he will never play a full season and he’s gonna lose a lot of money by never making all nba, going over % of games missed, and now his weight clause

Do I particularly believe what Skip Bayless says? No. But do I think some of this is true? It wouldn’t surprise me.

But to play devil’s advocate. If you didn’t want the clause in the contract, then why agree to it?

  5. rustymurderer13

I mean, Skip knew a lot about Kawhi’s injury and was pretty spot on, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he has some connections.

  6. Dense_King_1897

If his stepfather is truly upset, makes me think more that the Pels made the right decision putting in that clause lol. Apparently the Pels care more about Z’s career than his stepfather.

  7. JayDogon504

How could they be mad at the medical staff wanting to weigh him?? Lmfao

    Oh no, accountability!

(Not a shot at Z, but at his step father)

  10. Senor_Pug

Just ignore anything with Skip he’s playing a character trying to get fan bases angry. Don’t believe outside sources just believe the pelicans or Zion himself.

  11. El-bufalo20

This should worry people. Do we really think that Jen Hale would just sit and allow Skip to spout damaging lies about the situation? There is likely a huge amount of truth in what Skip said this morning and it’s wishful thinking to just brush it off. The relationship between Zions camp and the organisation clearly is and has been an issue.

  12. If this is true call him or his step father out on it publicly. Or they will continue to try to control things behind the scenes and they will eventually request a trade. Id rather call them out publicly then let them request a trade and trade him. Don’t give them control. They agreed to the contract and if they are unwilling to fulfill their end of it there will always be problems.

  13. Daveoos77

If true, it’s in the contract he signed for this exact reason. So there shouldn’t be any reason to be upset

  14. Savings-Bird-1226

Why would the clause bother u?

  15. Used_Doughnut4393

How sad is it that Skip is more reliable than the Pels organization.

If there’s even a hint of truth in this there needs to be an ultimatum on Zion this summer; either he cuts out his father from any personal influence on his career going forward like Lonzo/Lamelo did with LaVar or he gets traded. No ifs ands or buts. Absolutely no way can we spend the next 5 years with a “franchise star” who lets his dad hold him out of **playoff basketball** while his team has to fight tooth and nail without him… all because they’re insecure and scared of the number on a scale. Unacceptable.

Bruh, we had this dude for 4 years straight and it’s the same thing. I know I’m going to get downvoted, but for the sake of our fans and the spirit of basketball if I could go back I’d pick Morant. Dude actually has heart. We might never see Zion in another playoff series. This was suppose to be his redemption year and he’s still having issues staying on the court. WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE!

  18. scionofthewilds

you zion defenders are looking like such morons right now. Sorry to tell you that, but now you know.

  19. PaKyuBai

We should have changed that stipulation to a certain number of games played in a season. Cause he is screwed from getting any rewards anyway with the 65 games minimum to qualify for them.

  20. boxster233

Zion likely needs to speak out on this and address it. Without knowing exactly what the clause says, it’s hard to understand the impact of this or either side.

  21. Siva_Dass

If this is true, we don’t need a player who’s camp is against the organization and prevents him from playing.

I’ll eat crow here. I had previously thought we should trade BI and keep Zion. Honestly, I don’t really blame myself due to Zion’s abilities on the court.

However, the best ability is availability, and BI has proven naysayers like myself very wrong. If we need to break them up and I believe we do, then Zion should be the one that gets traded. It would be nice to get him on the court prior to that in order to drive up his value.

  22. aq-r-steppedinsome

WHAT THE FUCK, CLEARED TO PLAY?? is this story changing every day? Zion get yo fat ass on the court goddamnit!

  23. KingB53

When tf was skip bayless a source with any credit???

Wouldn’t be surprised if he forgot New Orleans existed since it’s not a big market

  24. thedeadlysun

Isn’t that what a medical staff should do regardless… I get weighed every time I see the doctor, even for non weight related things, zions step father has been an issue since before we drafted him. I’m tired of this dude.

  25. blackandgold32

This is BS, the clause’s haven’t even kicked in yet. Skip got bad info

  26. TorontoRaptors34

i was about to take it seriously until I saw the name skip bayless

  27. coffeen3rd

Incredible how many, even among us, immediately revert to fat jokes the moment they don’t like something that’s happening with Zion.
