Kobe dropped 60 in his final game 7-years ago today. I took this picture standing next to my dad, who had tears in his eyes. It was of the few times I’ve ever seen him cry. Grateful to Kobe for giving us this special memory and so many others. RIP Mamba

Kobe always delivered. There’s very few players in history who captured people’s emotions like Kobe did

Happy for you that you and your dad shared that moment. Great picture! Appreciate you adding this to the visual collection of Laker lore

  4. Hey I have a picture from that day from almost the exact same vantage point, and its funny because when the game was over I looked around to make sure I wasn’t the only one crying. Lots of people were. It was an emotional experience, not only his last game but in the way they won it. Wow. Best decision of my life to make sure I was there that day.

    I have this game saved.

When I read the term Kobe Stans in a Lakers forum I think “those guys are crazy, the last player to score 60 wearing purple and gold was an old Kobe after a torn Achilles whose knees were bone on bone for some time”.

By the way, players to score 60+ with a Lakers jersey were Kobe (many times), Baylor (many times), Old Wilt (twice), West, Mikan and Shaq.

I was there…one of the best moments in my life. Last time I felt like that was game 7 vs Celtics in 2010.

I was stationed in Colorado during this game. I remember watching it with one of my army brothers. We legit had tears coming down. What a memory. Forever Kobe & Gigi 824

We saw a legend doing what he loved. Rest in peace Kobe.

Never has a player moved me like kobe. The effort, the clutch gene, the strive for betterment and the sheer will. Unrivalled. I am not a big one for idolizing people but damn, kobe was something else.you just have to tip your hat to him.

  11. Kobe brought emotions to every fan. We saw him sacrificing his body and health for the yellow jersey every night, doing his best to help the club win.

I started hating the Suns because of their fans in Game 7 of the 2006 playoffs. Was so pissed because no other teammate helped him that game.

I’ll never forget this day. It was worth every penny being at the game in person. What a beautiful memory, OP! I remember the tears, too, and strangers hugging each other. It was emotional and incredible. I don’t think I’ll ever feel that kind of energy in a room again.

I remember seeing my dad cry when they gave the Kobe tribute the first time the Lakers played following us death. He wasn’t the hugest Kobe fan either but it must have been a trip to see his son’s favorite athlete for over 20 years suddenly die.

I sobbed like a baby after the game. Watching the lakers just hasn’t felt the same since he’s been gone.
