Instead of pulling Coby.. why not yell (coach him) to set the screens? Donovan has a history, not just with Bulls, but back to OKC days of pulling moves like this. He’s a mid level coach.

So let me make sure I’m understanding this right: Coby White had 9 pts on 3-5 shooting from deep in the 4th quarter. He slips a screen ONCE and gets subbed out for Pat Bev who had 0 PTS on 0-4 shooting for the whole game. Almost directly after this substitution, Pat Bev screens for DeMar, everyone realizes they can leave Pat wide open, and our offense becomes even worse.
Billy Donovan disasterclass in a must win game.

It’s obviously because the lottery was calling the Bulls’ name.

Hey Steph, thanks for showing how inept billy is. A simple time out and coaching on the sideline could have fixed this, putting patbev in is inexcusable

Good analysis. What a donkey of a decision by Billy…

I hear what Stan and you are saying, but pulling Coby was 100% the wrong call. He had a hot hand in a must win late game final stretch. We need points, not moral lessons.
On a brighter note, he has all Summer to work with someone on setting up and selling better screens and re-screen awareness. I hope we retain him. He is really turning into a young productive talent.

I also want to add that Billy said he pulled Coby for defensive purposes
after pulling him, we ended up scoring 1 point in the final 3 minute of gametime while allowing 19 points

Billy should be arrested for taking this man out. Congrats Billy you subbed in Bev and he set a better screen but he didn’t even take the shot anyway. Coby was on fire and at least helps the spacing even if he cooled off

Cory pulled after Lavine beat in the post by Butler, so he wanted to bring Pat Bev in to guard him. Problem was the Bulls we’re about to be on offense (Butler shooting the and-one) and he should have been trying to go offense/defense down the stretch. Messed up the timing imo.

Last game against the Raptors Coby and PWill were playing well and Billy subbed them out down the stretch for the starters. It worked out that time.
Billy’s the type of dude to not shake things up. Sometimes that strategy is beneficial, other times it’s not.
