Mikal Bridges and the Brooklyn Nets battle early, but can’t hang with James Harden and the 76ers

The Brooklyn Nets came out with a clear game plan for the 76ers and specifically Joel Embiid. Unfortunately the by-product of keep the monster Center out of the paint was affording the rest of Philadelphia to bomb threes.

Mikal Bridges continues to prove himself as a super-star in the making, providing unstoppable offenses and consistent defense throughout this contest. Along with Cam Johnson and Nicolas
Claxton the Nets have plenty long term positives to take away from this game.

In the short term however, this is was a game where the Nets were simple outmatched at key positions and do not have the simple fixes currently on the roster.

  1. At the end of the day making the playoffs was the ultimate mission for this new Nets squad.

These playoffs for Brooklyn is an evaluation of the talent they have and how can the core function in a playoff setting.

One thing that is accurate is the core of Mikal Bridges Cam Johnson Dorian Finney Smith Nic Claxton Spencer dinwiddie and Royce o Neale is a really strong unit to build around… 🔥

  2. Mikal Bridges showed in this game he why is a cornerstone and a top secondary scorer on Brooklyn team. Cam Johnson had a great game knocking down his buckets while Dorian and Claxton did a good job holding down Joel Embid for about three quarters.

The defense is there and Brooklyn has the assets to really set this roster up well in the off-season…

  3. Looking at the off-season a trade package of Ben Simmons Cam Thomas and three first round draft picks have been thrown around b in multiple trade scenarios.

Damian Lillard Trae young and Zach Lavine could all be on the move potentially and Brooklyn has the assets to get one of them because Brooklyn has the strong defenders. They just need an offensive scorer to knock down big buckets and this new Brooklyn Nets core would have a solid squad…

  4. Lack of effort toward rebounds and loose balls and turnovers were the biggest problems. The defense on embiid was great. James won’t repeat a 7 3 pt performance. I wasn’t upset at what I saw today. I even think it can setup the 76ers to be overly confident in the next game. But the things that went wrong for us today are fixable against the sixers, but do we have enough time to make a win out of it.

  5. they did fine against Embiid. He only scored 26 pts on 7/15 in 33 minutes with 5 rebounds and 3 assists. It was Paul Reed scoring 11 pts in 13 minutes on 5/6 that killed us.

  6. Philly was #1 in the league in team 3pt% at just under 39%. The Nets were 5th at just under 38%. But the Nets were only 21st in 3pt defense, while Philly was 5th. These numbers do not bode well for us.

  7. Death by 3s and turnovers. Philly is bound to cool off some from deep and Embiid is bound to score more than the 26 he had today. It was disappointing that we couldn’t get the score close at all through the game. Bridges is the real deal. Claxton is pretty darn good for 23 yrs old. The Nets have a long ways to go before they are good enough to make it to the 2nd round of the playoffs. On to game 2. Those are my cliff notes.

  8. This guy Adam is gaslighting y’all, homer to the max. Also B-ball Paul is undefeated 💪🏾!

  9. The outcome of the series between the 76ers vs the Nets was predicted, by most sensible fans, in advance of the game. The 76ers is a far more superior team than the Nets. Anyone that deny that has a basketball IQ that's too low to reason with., Why should anyone be surprised or disappointed with the result except the low basketball IQ crowd? It's hilarious how Monday morning quarterbacks and amateur basketball analysts, with fertile imaginations, propose "solutions" as to what the Nets should've done as if what they're suggesting is guaranteed to have helped the Nets be the victor in this game today. Barring a miracle, the Nets will lose this series against a superior team and not because of the same old stale default reason. (JV and Dinwiddie)

  10. Nets just need to play as fast as possible and drive to the basket every time. 76ers old & slow & won’t be able to hang. But they gotta play lockdown defense.

  11. Whether we get swept by 76ers or not, hopefully Nets fans keep in mind that the roster that we have now wasn't put together by plan. It came together as a result of trading away of our super stars, (KD/Harden/Kyrie) at their request, because they weren't happy being Nets. In the aftermath, we were left with a motley group of spare parts that new head coach Jacque Vaughn have to do his best to mold into a cohesive unit, in spite of not have sufficient time to practice. And to add insult to injury, a productive James Harden was traded to the 76ers for a very damaged and unproductive Ben Simmons with his bloated contract. I can't blame GM Sean Marks for staying out of sight. He's got nothing important to be proud of considering he's been the GM for 7 years. Yet he get to keep his job. You can draw your own conclusions as to why.

  12. I told everyone this series was a waste of time because the 76ers were too good. All those people that said the 76ers were overrated and the Nets were going to win are in for a rude awakening. Should have taken the lottery pick like I suggested.

  13. It's only game 1. The Twins have playoff experience. They made it to the Finals in PHX 2021 .NETS will figure things out😁

  14. you cannot allow tobias harris to score over 12 points and paul reed to score over 5 points

  15. Bold strategy to let the leagues best 3 pt shooting team get wide open 3s all game without making a single adjustment.

  16. I think they're going to have to change the plan to try and limit Harden,Embiid is going to get his honestly,I'm a little surprised they didn't try this in this game.
