The Toronto Raptors Worst Nightmare Has Come True..

The Toronto Raptors situation can’t get any worse..

The Raptors were buyers at the NBA trade deadline and gave away a first-round pick for next season just to still miss the playoffs after losing in the play-in tournament to the Chicago Bulls. The Raptors led by 19 points in this game but just as it has happened all too often this season, production for star players like Pascal Siakam and Fred VanVleet dried up in the 4th, and a lack of adjustment made by Nick Nurse ensured a historic collapse by the Raptors who also went 50% from the free throw line after going 18/36, much because of the efforts allegedly of Demar Derozan’s daughter.

Masai Ujiri has to make changes this summer because clearly it was the wrong move to invest in this core but there are bigger issues at play when it comes to the Raptors roster as well as what they can do with their future draft assets. Players need to change, perhaps coaching needs to change and it’s all down to 3 years of mismanagement by Masai Ujiri.

It’s time to start moving things in the right direction.

  1. There is the issue though of adding Porter, but then bad luck with his injuries. He would changed the bench and the terrible shooting stats, at least somewhat.

  2. I think firing Nurse should be the top priority. We lack depth, yes, but it is because of how Nurse never develop the depth we need. All the proven shooters we had over the last few seasons didn't have plays set for them, and when they miss a few shots they're benched. You cannot develop confidence this way. Nurse's defense system requires everyone on the floor to be good defenders. And I guess if DDR were with us he's not going to get many minutes under Nurse. So I would fire Nurse. Next is trade FVV – he has value and can probably bring us a couple of useful role players.

  3. You won your 1 championship, just keeping thinking about that, cause the raptors will never win another

  4. The FO needs to realize that Pascal is a solid number 2 option and they need to stop forcing the square peg in the round hole. He is not a number 1 option on any of the top contending teams nor is equal to any of them. Stop building around him. Barnes is also not the guy to build around. He will be a solid 2 in a few years. Basically the Raps are stuck again like they were with Chris Bosh. Solid number 2 options without a star number 1…get ready to be frustrated and bored the next few years.

  5. Time for some moves as many have said below. Nurse, Fred, Barton, Malachi, Thad all gone, keep the rest make some trades, get some winners. New coach play and empower the bench, I had as much confidence in the bench this year as I did the starters, who were gassed from being over played every fourth quarter. I'd be fine starting the season with Dowtin and Banton starting point guards next season. We couldn't be worse, and we have already traded so many playable players from the bench from lack of coaching player development like we had in the bench mob days…

  6. We were 15-10 after the trade I think that was good, plus gave up some games

  7. Does Trent have the balls to opt out of his contract. Raptors give him his money then move him out. What looked like a steal trade foe Powell doesn’t look that way now. Portland new Trent was a turkey

  8. BRO YOU TALK ALOT OF SH!T THEY NEED TO GET RID OF THE HEAD COACH AND HIS SON FREDDY AND MAYBE SPICEY P BC HE DEPENDS ON THAT JUMP SHOT TO MUCH HE WHEN HE SHOULD BE ATTACK THE NET BASICALLY SPICEY P SHOT SELECTIONS IS TRASH

  9. I'd say Nick Nurse should have one year left to amicably finish contract.

He did win a championship after all.

  10. Somehow telling ya'll leaf fans casuals "I told you so" isn't satisfying enough 😢 3 years I've been telling you casuals that pascal siakam is not a #1 option for a team that wants to contend. Masai should've blown it up on the deadline, when every team was looking at them. Also would've gotten us a better draft pick this year. No masai believed and made a win now move with poetl. As long as pascal is the #1 option raptors will.stay mediocre. And if him choking those ft's wasn't the last straw, well you're just a Homer 😂

  11. Raptors fans need to change their expectations because it's going to take years to get better again

  12. I disagree, this year was perfect entering the season: everyone was focused and push all in to be good, our defence should’ve gotten better, we had 3 key pieces that couldn’t coexist financially, those pieces could’ve been packaged in a number of ways to trade for a star, tons of teams wanted our assets, we had a year under Scottie’s belt… the only thing that went wrong was the disappointing first half. Had we been above average we would’ve retained our trade power but instead trade partners were low balling us. My proof everything was in place was the fact we were leading candidates to land multiple stars last summer, not pulling the trigger on any of those deals was a miss in hindsight but there was no indication our plan would fail so horribly by trade deadline. Masai didn’t fail us; luck, chemistry and maturity failed us.

  13. Said it before the deadline ill say it again…raps need to focus on building around scottie, OG and gtj…pascal and fvv are not it…pascal missing those free throws are just icing on the cake

  14. A lot of these guys dosen't want to come to Toronto. We should have won the game on Wednesday. That is on the players. It is easy to sit in your basement in front of a mic and chat. We did good with what we had

  15. Blazers are going to be willing trade partners but your GM wanted an Embid haul for OG.

He wanted Shaeden Sharp who averaged 25 5 5 ish the last 14 games another 1st and other stuff. What a joke, I'm starting your GM is so over rated.

  16. Some valid complaints, but the Raptors front office knows what they're doing. Masai certainly knows how to run a basketball organization more than you do

  17. We need a reset and start fresh! I do agree change needs to be had here. Also would have rather the Raptors not make the play-in. I know our team can be better than that.
