Boston Celtics score easy Game 1 win against Atlanta Hawks

The Boston Celtics made it look easy for a half against Atlanta, then they took it easy to make the score look close. But there is no mistake, the Celtics are the superior team, especially with Marcus Smart getting back to his Defensive Player of the Year level and the Boston defense following suit. John Karalis of Boston Sports Journal and Tom Westerholm discuss the win, the defense, the big performances, and why the Hawks look like they have no chance.

  1. @John Thanks for the discussion and wrap up. Such an amazing first half, sadly a below average 2nd half. Great to start out with the W. Appreciate the coverage year round Sir

  2. One down, 15 to go. Let’s fcking do this fellas! Thank you John & Tom! ☘️🙏🏻🔒

  3. i was hoping you'd have your new office by the start of the playoffs, hopefully soon John!

  4. Joe needs to stop playing the Jays 40 minutes or so. Derrick played a ton too. Why not cut their mins back a bit and let guys like Brogdon, Hauser, Pritchard get more minutes especially against a team like the Hawks? The Jays will be too exhausted thru the playoffs! Let's spread out the mins Joe because this team has depth!

  5. Not a bad game but defense showed again that this team cannot lose when they play defense like they know how. If we hold teams under 100 or even 115 points then we don’t lose it’s that simple ☘️☘️

  6. John, it’s not ever going to be “out of their system”. If they win the title it’ll be despite their lapses in focus, not because they “figure it out”.

Every team has flaws. This is theirs. 23 points in 17 minutes. It’s probably a good thing. Should help their focus for game 2.

  7. Udoka as the coach last year can say that team “hung their hat on the defensive end” this team can’t even tho they are a really good defensive team not as gr8 as last
Year but led by Mazulla who prioritizes shoot more 3’s then the other team with good spacing basically 5 out basketball, that’s what he cares about more. I wish this team can do both but with Rob being able to get hurt at any second of the game i her not giving him big minutes so we can
Atleast save him for future series. But this is not a lock up team first to create offense, we are one of the worst teams in the league in terms of steals this year which you would have laughed if I told you last year that we would be today

  8. imo Joe should've subbed in the bench+white with the starters playing like shit for the 2nd half if we were going to end up with a 13 point win anyway. this kind of behavior from the celtics is what makes me think they aren't ready. they shouldn't be taking their foot off the pedal when they get a big lead. they should be stepping no opponents throats and pushing the lead to 40+ so they can afford to rest the rotation players the whole 4th and let the bench play and get experience/minutes. i hope they and joe does better in game 2. we need this hawks series to be a sweep filled with blowouts so we can rest for the 76ers/bucks matchups.

  9. The Garden was rocking last night. Hope to make it to the Garden someday to see the boys play

  10. Nothing makes me more happy than seeing Alfred rage up over a good defensive stand.

Go get that Ring Big Al… we love you

  11. Good Win 💚☘️💚☘️💚

Even being up by 30, I still didn't feel good knowing dam well no lead is safe in this league. Keep up the great work, fellas💚🙏

    Let's go, Celtics!

  12. If they play like they played in the first half and get any production at all from Brogdon or Horford they can beat Atlanta by 50. If the Celtics lose a game it’s going to be 100% their own fault. This should be a sweep.

  13. Great first half but I hope we learned from taking our foot off the gas in the second half and get this out of our system for the rest of the playoffs good lesson to learn w/o losing
