The Boston Celtics Are Confusingly Tough To Predict…

Who do we trust more between Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown? Is the fact that—that’s a tough question, a concern? And Is the Celtics depth good enough?

The Boston Celtics Are Confusingly Tough To Predict…

  1. My main problem with the Celtics is that Tatum gets in his own way and when he plays badly instead of helping Brown do better he derails it by sloppy ball-handling or passing to someone else other than Brown. Couple this with Brown being more assertive but less equipped than Tatum to lead the team in crunch time. When Smart plays this is less pronounced, but he brings his own bag of issues when he does play. Brogdon is the sneaky great piece that is keeping them together and White has been great as he grows more comfortable within the system, as borne out in the recent streak of leading the team in scoring. As for Pritchard, it's unfortunate that Sam Hauser's ascension has hurt his playing time. Hauser provides the same kind of perimeter threat and can potentially cover taller players, and is thus a defensive plus over Pritchard.

  2. Robert Williams health is the most major concern. He’s playing right now, but he doesn’t look like his old explosive self there is tentative.

  3. Celtics are strong and health and have as good a shot as ever to win a championship. My biggest concern is not having Robert Williams in the post season, the difference between him on the court and off the court were night and day last post season. Additionally, the Celtics used to be absolute GSW killers with a younger Smart and Avery Bradley on the team, hard defense from the guards is going to be needed in more force to stop shooter heavy teams, we have the size and strength to hold bigs like Giannis and Jokic to decent numbers but Curry ate the Celtics alive without enough aggressive defense.

  4. Only concern is an injury to Timelord. With him in the lineup Celtics have that big down low for lobs and rebs, he needs to stay healthy. I also was hoping Pritchard would get traded. He deserves a chance, the kid can ball and the Celtics have buried him behind 3 good guards. The fact he didn't get traded says volumes about his skill. He will be gone when his contract expires and the team that signs him will be acquiring a winner

  5. My concerns
    1. Mazzulla’s adjustment and calls. I have a fear he might end up being a regular season coach.
    2. JT wrist
    3. Lack of consistency in role player court time and system integration(Joe’s planning)
    4. Too many minutes for the Jays even when they have a 20pt lead
    5. Grant Williams slacking off both ends.
    6. JT is still a TO machine during big games/tight finishes. At least JB isn’t anymore.

  6. JTs wrist. this is so understated in the media that some people even believe it's fake. it's a wrist injury that requires surgery that tatum simply postponed because he's on a mission this season. it doesn't get brought up enough that he;s putting up mvp numbers while playing with an injury that needs surgery for the whole season.

his shooting splits/# of airballs has been one of the worst he's had this season.

  7. Concerns:

The Warriors…. They are a problem for us. Tatum looks very pedestrian against them in a pretty good sample size. When he sees Steph Curry he shrinks, so far anyway. (I can feel the ground rumbling from people pissed I would even suggest it. get real. it's true)

Whining at the refs… This team complains a lot. They sometimes are too busy worrying about a bad call that they forget a game is going on.

Too many threes…. It's great when they're hitting them. Frustrating when they don't. This team has several guys who can get to the rim and finish. threes are great, but it's a risky gameplan.

These concerns are only minor. I don't think any of them are too much for this team to overcome. This team doesn't really have many weaknesses besides a potential mental block vs the Warriors. They definitely rise up against everyone else.

  8. It's hard to find concerns with a Boston team that is streamrolling through their competition looking to make back-to-back Finsls appearances. The only real concern is health. The Celtics have a big man in the 'Time Lord's who intend sustains injuries and an injury during the playoffs could hurt their chances. Other than that the Celtics don't have any major concerns that can't be fixed through a couple of games. A Celtics-Mavs or Celtics-Suns or even if somehow possible, a Celtics-Warriors finals would be great a great match-up to watch.

  9. Holy crap; I knew JB was pretty young but I had no idea Tatum was only 24! Dude is already playing at an MVP level and he's not even close to his prime yet.

If a few other things go their way this duo could lead the Celtics to quite a few chips over the next decade.

  10. My main concern is complacency. We all know what Boston is capable of, but there have been times we lost games due to us taking our foot off the gas. Sometimes we have stretches where we go on runs early in the game, but I worry about our ability to close out games at times.

  11. Please say something people don’t know. Jason Tatum is an accident waiting to happen when it comes to hurting his teammates. And please stop talking Tatum MVP. Jason Tatum will never win an MVP and can you stop comparing Tatum to Curry. Do you remember last years terrible performance by Tatum. N9 we don’t want anymore. This is not Tatum’s team. This team is good because of the players that fill that roster.

  12. Biggest fear for the Celtics is the same as it is every year prior: staying healthy.
Hospital Celtics has been a recurring term in the past, waiting to hear the injury report before every game. It puts a lot of pressure on the Jays to consistently put up big numbers in the regular season to get a decent placement in the playoffs. Then by that time they're in it they're gassed and more prone to injury themselves. The team has rounded out nicely & has had the most depth I can remember in a while. Hopefully be able to give our starters rest here & there. They've got the talent, chemistry, & after last year's lost more hungrier than ever 🍀

  13. Dude, I like yr efforts in make Celtics videos. However, you're still talking & looking at basketball at the basic level, like a regular fan level. If you're a true Celtic fan, study more on how team ball works, & analyse both ends. Brown & Tatum play style are different & they give diff problems to defense. Brown said 2 yrs ago: we're fire & ice. Concerns for Celtics? Health, & RW. RW in G5 & 6 was one of the main culprits for the collapse on letting Warriors getting timely off. rebounds with over helping & going for blocks instead of boxing out & holding his position. If you've read between the lines in several interviews involving Grant & RW himself, you know RW made many mistakes. If he plays this way again in playoffs, Mazulla will bench him, unlike Udoka who kept doing same things throughout the playoffs without strong Xs & Os like Stevens or even Mazulla. Do you ever recall any outstanding ATO plays by Udoka? We see them all the time with Stevens & even wl Mazulla this yr.

  14. It's really not to confusing as a Boston fan. Tatum is amazing, but in crunch time, during the playoffs, I want Jaylen driving to the hoop, not Tatum shooting 3s.

  15. My main concern about this team is that they get too happy with the 3 ball & they end up shooting themselves in the foot during their playoff run

  16. My biggest fear is with the coach. He doesnt use time outs properly and when smart comes back will he have balls enough to play white and brogdan down the stretch and leave smart on the bench. In my opinion if brad could get 2 or more 1st round picks for smart id trade him and resign pritchard and go with white , brown brogdan and JD Davison

  17. My only real concern is Jayson staying out on the perimeter. He's a fantastic finisher and a magician from midrange, and I'm worried that we don't have him where he's most effective. We've got no shortage of guys who can rain down threes all game, and I think we should give Jayson more opportunities down low, especially now that Jaylen is out with injury.

  18. Derrick White definitely needs more credit, but deep down inside I think he'd rather win the chip than be known as the star.

  19. There is no I in team .
If this group plays together and stays together I don’t think we’ve seen what they are capable of.

  20. If the two jays can be CONSISTANT and not turning ball over and being smart and play as a team move the ball and they will be succeeded just share the ball do not play iso ball when the going get tough.

  21. the depth is huge for us this year. we didn't have nearly as much last year, so when our starters went cold there was nowhere to turn really. Now it feels like we always have one or two guys who step up and get the team rolling. bucks OT was huge for bench confidence too, despite the loss

  22. Any Celtic’s fan will tell you: Jayson Tatum is the clear cut #1 guy. There’s no confusion. JB knows he’s #2 but I don’t think it has any negative effect on him or the team.
