The Mavericks are on the verge of adding to their front office, as NBA insider Marc Stein reports that Mark Cuban is on the verge of hiring former Utah Jazz GM Dennis Lindsey to join Nico Harrison in the Mavericks front office. With a crucial 2023 NBA offseason getting underway, the Mavs get a new set of eyes in the front office. Myles Turner trade rumors have been heating up with Bleacher Report saying that Turner would be an ideal fit for the Mavs with Christian Wood, who is poised to depart Dallas in 2023 NBA free agency. JKidd completely did everything he could to expose CWood defensively, knowing that was his weakness. I thought he worked hard on his defense, he got some very timely blocks and his upside was very good on the offensive end. Can score inside or outside very consistently. He is a very good 4 and a less than average 5. Sucks that Kidd didn't use him more effectively. Oh…I DO like the FO move…I think it's needed.

Mavs could have had Turner when they were shopping him for 2 years.
The biggest skill a GM has is knowing When to hold them and when to trade them.
Mavs need to pursue miles turner at this point
Before Wood got Hurt, He was playing pretty solid defense. Course he would be backed down pretty easily by the big centers. But he isn't a Center and should have never been considered one beside the back up plan of small ball 5.
They should have looked at him as a offensive talent that needs a Defensive Stopper behind him at 5(as that is exactly what is holding the whole team back) and realized they weren't doing anything till they got that player and realized they would be making a move(bigger than Javelle McGEEEEEE) this offseason.
I mean surely they aren't dumb enough to not get some type of defensive center this season.

I agree that Kidd mismanaged Wood. For most of the year he was the second best offensive player and he did mess up on defensive rotations but showed that given starting minutes, he would be a good help side shot blocker. Perhaps Kidd could do more than "Watch the games just like you guys" and coach. It's clear that he had no offensive plan, because it was just give the ball to Luka. And when Luka was out the plan was Spence,Josh, Frank, McKinley go be Luka.

Why don’t the mavs just hire an actual gm instead of a shoe salesman who needs help doing his job?
Too many caveat to say Y to wood straight up. If the Mavs are willing to buckle down and change their playstyle then yes. If they’re coming back with that stand on the wings and watch Luka/Kyrie, then don’t waste his time and theirs. If they get a 5 or play McGee more, or Maxi look a bit more like his old self next season, then they should. But you can’t have someone dropping your defensive rating the 120 and not take full advantage of his capabilities by forcing him to play a stretch 5.
Stay far far away from wood… let him go to his 20th team
