[Woj] Wes Unseld Jr., will return for his third season as coach and sources say that he continues to have a strong advocate with owner Ted Leonsis. The Wizards search for a new President and GM will commence as the only active search in the marketplace.

  1. I’m not as big of a WUJ hater as everyone else here but the new GM needs to at least consider making changes if next season is a similar disaster.

I’m fine with this personally as long as he has a short leash and that Ted let’s the new GM have full authority on firing him whenever he sees fit. Giving Wes one last chance is not the biggest issue rn. Giving our team one true direction is and I’m hoping come the offseason we get legit clarity.

Depending on what the New GM cooks up I’m willing to give Unseld another shot

A new gm but they don’t pick coach, along with other factors it’s a tough sell

  5. Ehh I guess that’s ok, usually new GM means new coach too but we’ll see how WUJ performs

If Ted wanted to get rid of mid coaches, then get rid of WUJ. That is the only way the Wizards can get ahead.

  7. Very hard to evaluate a HC when you’ve had the PGs that he has had. The offensive sets are much more complex than they ever were with Brooks, and at least we’ve seen flashes of development and ability to properly deploy the young guys (even if it only happens when one of the Mid 3 is hurt).

He should have another year to prove himself, hopefully with a young rebuilding team.

There’s always a caveat with this team lol

All of this press from Leonsis that he is committed to Wes Unseld Jr is going to make it very awkward when a new President/GM will make the case to bring in his people and will likely get their way.

  10. If WUJ goes, then I hope they deal everybody and bring in a new, fresh college type coach. Lawson, even Cassell, somebody.

  11. He’ll be the tank commander for 2 years. And Ted gets to save face by not having to fire Wes Unseld’s son.

I don’t understand what the point of making this statement is.

Why is Ted making a decision on WUJ’s future before we even know who the GM is? Logically you’d think it would be up to the new GM to make this decision. What if there’s a great GM who would sign with us, but doesn’t like WUJ as a coach? I feel like we’re either limiting our choices or Ted is already handcuffing the new GM.

This is moronic but also par for the Wizards course

Seems weird to make this statement without having a GM. Don’t particularly think WUJ is a good coach either.

Can’t win them all I guess, idk.

Get rid of WUJ now.. he’s shown he is not competent

  16. stache_twista

Do you guys think I can be president and GM of the wizards

  17. we are going nowhere if wuj still have a job as head coach. get ready for another losing season or play in tournament contender

  18. InterviewDue5188

Bruh if Ted was serious he’d leave all decisions to the incoming GM rather than just saying that the head coach is gonna stay. Insane that the owner is making that decision.
