Hey all – just dropping this by here like usual so you all can check out the interview.

    Appreciate you guys!

Jerami Grant sounding like he’s definitely coming back and sounds like a great long term fit. Cronin sounds very open to keeping Ant longer term, but willing to make changes too. Like his words about not just trying to get top heavy stars but building quality depth which has been arguably our biggest issue. The 8-14 guys can’t all be rookies with no experience. “Definitely” willing to go into luxury tax. Also Cronin makes a point that we’ve recently had one of the highest payrolls in the league. (Basically Olshey’s fault for not making the most of it, not Jody being stingy.)

On Sharpe he does say he appears to have what it takes to be a starting caliber 2 in the league (especially with his last 10 games), just an issue of sustainability long term in this early stage of his career. (Nice that he recognizes him as a 2 and not trying to shoehorn him into another three guard lineup.) Shaedon really seems highly unlikely to be moved.

Main thing is to continue to build around Dame and especially build up our depth which I’m here for. Love these interviews with Cronin that gauge the temperature of the front office. Many thanks!

It sounds like he’s lowering expectations a bit by saying we don’t necessarily need a star/super team and its more important to get depth.

Also he didnt express any concerns about a Lillard/Simons backcourt. I wouldn’t expect him to publicly say there’s a problem, but if he actually does plan to keep Simons then the roster isnt changing a ton.

Cronin has a tough job for this offseason, so its hard to expect a lot, and I guess we’ll see soon enough

From this interview and the exit interview, it sounds like to me that Dame, Ant, Shae, Grant and Matisse are the key pieces that JC wants to hold onto for next season. He specifically did not mention Nurk as part of the core which I thought was interesting.

A lot of you guys want Ant gone, but it looks like we might be trying to go the Cavs route, with 2 score first guards and then size/defense at 3,4,5.

Hopefully Nurk, this year’s pick and all our future picks can net somebody decent at SF and C…
    Edit: spelling
