Kentucky basketball’s 2023-24 starters are set, what about the rotation? | Kentucky Wildcats Podcast

Excluding Oscar Tshiebwe, Kentucky basketball’s starting five for the 2023-24 college basketball season is set… but what does the rotation look like for John Calipari?

On today’s episode of Locked On Kentucky, Lance Dawe discusses Kentucky basketball’s current roster state. Despite all of the chaos, the starters for next season’s Kentucky Wildcats is essentially set, With Rob Dillingham and DJ Wagner holding down the backcourt, Justin Edwards getting the nod at small forward, and Aaron Bradshaw and Ugonna Onyenso starting in the frontcourt.

What does the rotation look like? How does Antonio Reeves and Oscar Tshiebwe potentially returning shift things around? Would a transfer like Hunter Dickinson or Jamarion Sharp change things up?

Dawe also answers some listener questions. What has happened to Kentucky’s pursuit of Western Kentucky transfer Jamarion Sharp? When will we know for sure that Tshiebwe and Dickinson will declare and decide? Do the Wildcats truly have enough depth on roster for next season?

  2. PG- Rob
    SG – DJ Wagner
    SF – Justin Edwards
    PF- Aaron Bradshaw
    C- Ugonna Oyenso
And bring in Reeves and Reed Shepard to relieve the two guard spots, and with Antonio being the 6th man. And Cal needs to find another wing and big Man. Lance Ware can be that guy but he isn't the best offensive player. I hope Damion Collins comes back and this is why I am baffled that Cal doesn't go after Mbako, because he is the perfect fit for what he needs right now. Because what is he gonna do if Bradshaw gets hurt or who is gonna sub in for him?

  3. So I guess the talk/doubt from a few weeks ago about Dillingham actually coming to KY has been resolved? Sure hope so at this point.

  4. forget the rotation
how many time will it take before Cal can get his lineup right so we don’t lose to bozos like South Carolina

  5. Justin Edwards is starting if anything reeves at the 2 for rob and DJ at the 1. It will be Rob and Reeves splitting time. Idc what the lineup is I bet you 100$ Justin will be starting first game of the year barring injury

  6. DJ and Edwards are the only 2 freshman that are most definitely starting. I love Rob more than anyone we have coming in but Cal loves Defense and Rob needs a lot of help. And Reed will be 7th man of the bench. He has the highest basketball IQ in the whole freshman class

  7. UK only plays 6 so find a spot on the bench before they are all taken.

  8. I would also say Bradshaw will start. But the best scoring lineup will be all 5 freshman well maybe Reeves instead of Reed

  9. Thanks, Lance. Great info on next season's team. You're a true Kentucky fan. I agree on the backcourt. Wagner at the 2 and Dillingham at the 1. But they can play either spot if the other is on the bench taking a breather or whatever. Both guys can handle the ball and bring it up the court. I see, Dillingham breaking out and having an incredible season similar to Fox, Maxey, or Wall. I think he'll rebound well from that spot, too. I'm most excited to watch Dillingham.

  10. Love the channel!! Congrats on the 4k! I look forward to watching your videos everyday! Without a doubt the best source for Kentucky Baskeball news.

  11. I believe we have to have players to teach these high school guy's to be college basketball players !!!!!!!!!!

  12. I will say it again and again, but my favorite player for next year is Rob Dillingham. Just think how long it has been since we have had a point guard like him. He possesses skills we've desperately lacked for a long time at the position, and is detrimental to compete at the collegiate level. Therefore, I also believe that Dillingham is also our most important player. I am excited to have an elite scorer who can get his shot any time and any where on the court, who can also penetrate, facilitate, and create for others at the point for next year.

  13. This dude acts like Lance ware is a walk on bench warmer !!give this kid his props , he comes in fiery with hustle and spirit !! Gives it all he can and helps the team

  14. Need a Starting PF whether that’s convincing Livingston back or grabbing one from the portal. Not sure y we are putting so much stock in Bradshaw playing the 4 full time when he’s played and been scouted as a 5. Dillingham, Wagner, edwards, a 4, Bradshaw and Bradshaw splits his minutes at the 4&5 and Ugo gets his minutes at the 5. Also no reason reeves can’t start the 3 and edwards the 4. He will put on some weight over the summer I’m sure and his camp is open to him playing there as well. But we have 3 centers on roster so shoring up the 3&4 spots seem most important IMO. If we want to play modern basketball we gotta quit worrying about adding another 7 footer. Four 7 footers on elite 8 rosters, 2 on final four rosters.
