Kevin Durant & Devin Booker combine for 63 pts in Suns win vs. Clippers | NBA | FIRST THINGS FIRST

The Phoenix Suns evened their series up with the LA Clippers last night with a 123-109 win. Devin Booker and Kevin Durant combined for 63 points in the win. Nick Wright, Chris Broussard, and Kevin Wildes debate if this is a performance they should expect from the Suns moving forward and then react to Russell Westbrook’s performance.

  1. The suns are going to lose this Series u can’t have a bench give u a pathetic 10 points in a home game in the playoffs! The starters are too old (Chris Paul Kevin Durant) or not in their prime (Devin Booker Deandre Ayton) so they have to play so manu extra minutes to keep up and they can’t maintain that for a 7 game series.

  2. I’m a Suns fan and I couldn’t agree with Nick more. I’m not as concerned about the bench because Cam Payne is our most underrated player who is so vital off the bench. But their shot selection gives them serious math problems. They are way too reliant on the midrange. They need more versatility in their scoring

  3. Russ always plays good against Durant why is everyone shocked lol he has lived for this moment since KD left…..he is dying to get him out of there first round 😂

  4. Suns best players all playing 40 minutes and y’all think that’s sustainable? Every star on this team is injury prone and can choke any day of the week.

Too much has to go perfectly for them to win.

  5. I honestly think winner of this series takes the west. Nuggets are too dependent on jokic and lakers are good just not better than these two. Only team that I think that has a chance to beat them are the kings. Everyone is sleeping on the kings but they are beast.

  6. Nick's Kobe hate continues. Analytics aside…watch Jordan's best games or highlights, watch Kobe's best games or highlights, watch LeBron best games and highlights. Jordan is the GOAT, Kobe is the most skilled (unbelievable at times), and LeBron plays the game better than anyone…ever! Nothing will change that because all are past their prime, past (literally), or long since retired.

  7. Guessbrook apologies, he had one game where he was both brilliant and terrible. Game 2 he was great.

But why the recency bias?? Anybody who has watched guessBrooke knows he makes terrible shot decisions makes lots of incredibly mindless turnovers.

Phoenix should be encouraging him to take shots.

  8. This is the way I see things in this series:
Suns Devin Booker: current #1, no doubt about it.
Suns Kevin Durant: #2. Maybe Durant is happy he is not the de-facto leader of this team. I think he looks comfortable with this.
Suns Chris Paul: Sorry, but he is overweight, and maybe ready to call it quits.
Clippers Kawhi Leonard: Seems ready physically. Point in favor of load management.
Clippers Russel Westbrook: Remains an enigma, but he still can win a game any given day. Strong and ready, but selfish with the ball.
Clippers Paul George: very fragile; I don't think he will be a factor in the entire playoffs.

Advantage: Suns, but this is the most difficult series to predict.

  9. Suns need a Herculean KD game in LA, Clippers need role players to catch fire from 3 at home. It’s still going 7

  10. We are seeing that Russ could be a great defender even at this stage. It’s the want to. He could be a nightmare for the other point guards being bigger than them

  11. They fell horribly last year missing wide open midrange shots I couldn't believe it..they don't give Aidan no opportunities when they did 2yrs ago we thought by now head avg 18-20.

  12. Brou always on point. ✊🏼 all other analysts rave about PHO going 8-0 with KD playing but i always thought "against whom?" cos most of those teams, tho playoff teams, were not at their best with their stars resting. They even struggled against them. Even KD kept it real & didn't think much of it.

  13. Idk why you guys thought Phoenix would win this year give them a full year and to build around them

  14. The Cp3 downplay is insane 😂😂 He’s been the same player for the past decade best Pg in the league ( not scorer for the idiots ) suns winning the chip and they gonna repeat , I always said give cp3 a lebron or a KD talent player and see what happens and now we finally gonna see it, RING US

  15. Why do people complain there are no bench points when the bench players are not on the court. They are sitting on the bench.

  16. Being a Suns fan and having Nick doubt and talk trash, makes me feel so much better. He’s literally the guy picked last in school.

  17. Why would Adam silver let the "worst official" in basketball officiate a playoff game of 2 of this magnitude? This is a "set-up" for sports gambling!!! The WORST OFFICIAL??????

  18. As a Suns fan I don't believe they can win this year with that bench. I definitely think they can make a nice run and build some chemistry and playoff confidence. Then hopefully fill out the pieces this off season and make the run next year. Still getting mad whenever they lose games haha

  19. Guys have so much take-equity invested in Russ is bad, and he can’t help teams win, that they barely know what to do with his good performances.

  20. Via bf the disrespect to Russ crazy is it suprising a former MVP Mr triple double played good wen u watch him u can tell he has a lot left

  21. No one wants to talk about how clippers was winning by double digits but our bench went cold and no one could’ve hit something besides Russ and kawhi

  22. When will Nick learn his lesson?! He says the same stuff about CP3 every playoffs and CP3 goes dumb and proves him wrong

  23. Kawhi just looks like a different animal this series, and Russ’ defense and offensive rebounding have been incredible…. Sun’s stars have played well, and KD has been very efficient and playmaking well, but I need him to take more shots. This series feels like it’s gonna go 7 🙂

  24. I love Kawhi’s game lol. No bag really, just between the legs, pull up, splash, I got 35 and now I’m gonna lock you up. No smiles, no feeling… Cyborg 🤖

  25. Elite midrange shooting can cancel out great 3pt shooting. 100 midrange shots at 60% gets you 120pts, and 100 3point shots at 40% gets you 120pts
