In Episode 1385, Sean Woodley is joined by Jamar Hinds (Raptors Republic) to review the season that was for Toronto Raptors shooting guard Gary Trent Jr., who might be the most difficult to project of the Toronto Raptors pending unrestricted free agents. Off the top, Sean and Jamar dig into their biggest positive takeaways from Trent’s season, in which he operated well within the flow of the Raptors’ offense and did his duty as a late-clock bailout guy, all the while flip-flopping back and forth between the starting lineup and the bench. Next, they dig into the things in Trent’s game that still leave something to be desired, including his lack of defensive oomph outside of his knack for steals, and the very limited playmaking package he brings to the table. Were his struggles all his fault, though? Or was he over-relied upon on a team that often sunk or swum with his ups and downs. Lastly, Sean and Jamar look ahead to his very likely unrestricted free agency this summer, take stock of what could be a cool market for his services, and make the case for his return contingent upon the Raptors supplementing their core six guys with a more robust supporting case.
