Unless Nick Nurse is willing to come here, I want him as the head coach.

Also, the fanbase will support his hire because of his connections to Houston. Played community college basketball in Houston. And of course his accomplishments during his four seasons as a Rocket. Hit multiple clutch shots including a game winner in the 1994 finals. 2nd best player in the 1994 game 7 victory against the Suns. Two thirty point games in the 1995 playoffs–one against the Spurs in the Western Conference Finals and one against the Magic in the NBA finals.

A first timer who’s been a long term assistant and is known for his work with young guards on a contender. Where have I seen this before?

This franchise better not cheap out and get another first timer. They need an experienced guy to turn the ship around

I remember hearing Vogel likes having a former player as an assistant. Would be curious to know if Sam I Am would be willing to come over as an associate head coach. Likely would mean Lucas is gone if that happens though.

i had to look up the 3rd time he won a championship. totally forgot he was on that 2008 celtics team.

anyways, i always found the idea of sam cassell as a head coach strange. when he talks, it seems like he slurs and stutters. communication being a key part of being a coach (especially HEAD coach), it always seemed like something he and a team would have to work through. granted, i am basing this off of interviews when he was a player for the rockets, and his speech may have improved since then. absolutely loved the player. just dubious of him being the man for our head coaching vacancy.
