Congrats to him, he was great this season. He’s a starting caliber player that moved to backup because of his injury history. To his credit he stayed healthy and played really well.
Sucks for Quickley, the knocks against him were weird. Celtics fans and media members were going crazy about Quickley starting games and playing starter minutes. Meanwhile John Havlicek, the Celtics legend they named the award after, started games and played insane minutes. He was 2nd-5th in minutes on the Celtics in the first 7 years of his career and had a 5 year run where he averaged 43 mins a game. Shouldn’t we be a little more loose with these arguments?
IQ and Brogdon were basically the same on offense, but IQ was the MUCH better defender.

This argument about starting to much/separating his starting stats vs his bench stats has never been applied to this award.
Has anyone rectified the fact that these criteria against IQ have never ever been applied?
Honestly bright side here is that he lost this because of how well he did as a starter, but proving he could be an effective starter will elevate his career to new heights.

Never before has anybody used the argument about starting games vs games off the bench. None of the Boston media ever mentioned that brogdon missed 15 games compared to iq missing 1. They were both similar in offense, but it’s completely one sided when it comes to defense.
