Didn’t see this posted since it’s mostly focused on the NHL but the above does speak to potentially strained relationships on management’s level. Remember that MLSE owns the Raptors and the Leafs; the Jays are owned by Rogers straight up as opposed to the three-way split of MLSE.
I wonder if this is whats stopping a Nick Nurse firing.
I don’t think there is much evidence to support this sort of thing reaches down below the president/gm level.
In 2020 we gave Nurse an extra 4 years and made him one of the highest paid coaches in the NBA.
I think this whole wait time is Ujiri taking the time to process and think about what he is going to do as it is a tough decision whether he wants to keep him ot not.
