"Contend" means being an actual Challenger for the Championship. OKC won't play for the Championship next year.
Still can't believe Sam Presti finessed that many picks out of other teams. Watch as he drafts another 3 MVPs in the next few years
Not next year, not yet. But year after that, I expect them to. Solid core of young players, with a superstar in SGA. I expect them to be champions/perennial contenders in most of the 2020's decade, IF they can keep the squad

The effect of Chet will be akin to that of Duncan and possibly Bill Russell. He is putting on muscle which won’t fully show next year but right after then. Poku and Ousmane are the wild cards. All aboard!
They’re a nice young team, a really nice young team, and getting Chet should only make them better, along with the development of their young stars, but title contending, c’mon man, they didn’t even make the playoffs this year.
