Gotta give him some time. Pistons are young and have potential to figure it out
I think Weaver firmly .500 on trades. A few moves that I disliked: 1) the hornets were desperate for a center so they should have been the ones giving US the 2nd rounder for Plumlee, not us giving them a pick; 2) maybe it was mostly media hype and NBA GM’s really new what was what, but Jerami Grant’s trade value seemed highest during the 2021/22 trade deadline and it appeared that Weaver failed to sell high at the deadline for less than I expected by trading grant before the 2022 draft; 3) I hate this Saddiq trade, just how many more players like Dinwiddie, Bruce brown, Bey, and Middleton are we going to throw away?! Trades that I liked: 1) Bojan 2) Grant pick for Duren 3) Lyles/Jackson for bagley (even though we overpaid bagley) 4) Delon Wright for CoJo (small stuff because we got a couple of 2nd rounders out of the deal). I’m terms of draft picks, weaver is also batting .500. He’s hit on Cade, Beef Stew, Ivey, and Duren. He whiffed in Killian and I’ll venture to say he missed on Bey (Desmond Bane is a similar but better player, but that’s a moot point bc Bey went from being 1st team all-rookie to being traded within 2 seasons). It irks me that we’re clearly resetting the clock on the rebuild (yes I know it was inevitable once Cade got injured) by trading a known commodity in Bey for a fliee on Wiseman – Bagley deja vu.
Educationed Pistons aren't losing faith. They should move Casey to the front office and get a new coach for next season. I know Casey got an extension
1. Troy Weaver drafted Killian Hayes
2. He picked up Saddiq Bey who is gone
3. One off season we loaded up with 5-7 Big man and we are still in search of a big.
4. Instead of paying talent he pays to buyout contracts for players fans NEVER sees
5. Cade and Ivey still need to play together plus we have new rookies coming… How long does this rebuild suppose to be?
6. Duren HAS ALREADY PLAYED MORE GAMES THAN James Wiseman.
7. Besides Cade, Duren, and Ivey Weaver hasn’t done much of anything when you think about it. Minus Burks and Bogdon
All this time and we don’t have a clear starting 5 or bench. It’s kinda sad.
Emphatic yes👌
One thing you can’t be mad at Troy for is he is always going big. He’s playing to win. Not just playing to be good. He’s taking sufficient risk to actually win a chip. Also people look always look at trades outside of the financial lense and forget it’s not just player for player. It’s all of the financial implications and wiseman will save us money and is higher upside. That’s a W
The one thing I don't like about Weaver is he hasn't made a coaching change.
If this move ends up being anything like the Jermaine O'Neal trade, this will be an absolute steal. Absolutely no one expected O'Neal to flourish into the top 3 PF in the league that he became at his peak in Indiana.
Go watch Wiseman and Mobely go at it in High School. We know Mobely is an unbelievable talent but after watching them go head to head Wiseman is a freakish athlete and suprisingly the younger of the 2. His upside is scary.
Wiseman can play the 4 or at least he'll get a shot. Either way hes going to get a bunch of minutes down the stretch as Detroit goes into full tank mode and starts shutting down our future star Duren as hes extremely young and never played this many games. We dont need Duren getting hurt.
If Wiseman doesn't play 30 plus minutes, per night, every night, I will be extremely upset but I think he will…..I think he'll also be as you pointed out Jermaine O'neal, situation, 2.0
Yes we're all loosing faith in weaver ' mainly because of Casey is still on the job"
…. maybe wiseman and duren..can be what duren and stew' couldn't be.a Force ' a two headed monster..
Fans are losing faith as they don’t see a path to the Re-interation of what made the Pistons successful. He says he wants to be the next edition yet he is bringing in guys who just can’t cut it defensively…his first draft is looking like an absolute bust in terms of 3 kicks at the can and you walk away with Stew who at the time was the least liked pick of that draft.
We need Draymond Green. We suck defensively and lack leadership…on top of that our wings and bigs is a cluster fuck of offensive dudes…If he is willing to take a bit of a discount to come home I may be tempted to pay him. If we luck out and get Wemby fuck it, if we end up with the 3rd-4th pick than I’m looking at Brandon Miller who can manage defensively at 6’9 at the SF position and let dancing bear play the 4 alongside Duran.
If you're losing faith in Troy Weaver then you never had faith in him to begin with. For goodness sake what do you think a rebuild looks like, you take chances on players with high ceilings and low-risk and you collect draft picks These bandwagon people drive me crazy
Anybody going against Troy just has no idea how hard it is to rebuild. Casuals only see things on the surface, it's not necessarily their fault, but it's just the way it is. To them they think the process is easier than it really is. They think you can just draft a few top profile rookies, sign some free agents, and starting winning. If they're not winning, and young players don't look like superstars within a year or two. Then It's all a disaster, failure. Some fans don't realize players need development. Most young players need 3-5 years to show what they can be in this league. Which are role players, bench guys. A much smaller percentage of them turn into all-stars. Those upper echelon guys are hard to find, and teams need a little luck to find them. Nobody can predict how a player develops, Giannis was drafted 15th overall, Jokic was a 2nd round pick. They turned into HOF players, nobody saw that coming. It was pure LUCK! for certain teams. Also there is no fixed timeline on how a player develops. Some guys look like studs within 2 years, but most need more time than that. That's why we need a good 4-5 years of drafting and developing before we can truly see where this team is heading. So to me Troy has at least another 2 years to go before we can really judge how he's built this team.
Losing faith rapidly. Killian over Haliburton, countless failed reclamation projects and not one has worked out, has not maximized assets two straight years at the deadline and now wants a 34 year old Bogey as a part of the future? No, you maximize that trade value. The Bagley contract, has not accumulated any type of war chest of assets that pave a path forward etc. I was on all in on Troy, I’m not out yet but he needs to have a bigger summer and we need major improvements next season.
LOL. All this is coming from the trading of the great Sadiq Bey. Hilarious.
I questioned the last trade but I 100% believe in Weaver. I understand it but as a fan of bigs we have in Duran and Stewart this seems to take minutes from them but at the same time we definitely need longer bigs and a poor man rich man 10 man rotation would be nice. I’m thinking.
Cade/Hayes
Henderson/Ivey
Bagley/Wiseman
Bojan/Burke
I say Henderson because I feel the NBA will gift Victor to the Spurs
Send this clown packing
Troy Inherited A Team At Tha Bottom He Needs Time Van Gundy Made Trades 4 Tha Sake Of Trading Troy's Moves R Calculated 2 Build A Winner Give Him Time
SURE…he should have kept BLAKE GRIFFIN AND DERRRIK ROSE AND RE-SIGNED THEM TO MAXXX DEALS…..and traded for deangelo russell, and kevin durant……..damn, what a good lookin' team………………………………………………no?
Troy Weaver can p*ss in a bottle call it lemonade and some fans will still drink it 🤦♂️😂! I’m of the mentality Troy has done a great job turning over the roster and acquiring draft picks since we got nothing for Drummond or Blake. I appreciate his restore philosophy vs SVG who acted like he was gods gift to Detroit and we’d never attract a FA smh, SVG just ignored all of Pistons history. Now on the flip side Troy hasn’t “WON” anything in this league and he definitely hasn’t brought us a championship or orchestrated a team to make a playoff run so I’m fully skeptical of his moves he doesn’t get my BLIND trust lol. I think paying Bagley 37mil is horrible. Not going through with the Bol Bol for McGruder trade was a mis move you take that gamble McGriddle isn’t doing anything for us! How long are we going to pamper Hayes? How long do we trot out Casey? Weaver still has a lot of work to do with this team going forward we’re 2-3 moves away from being able to compete imo!
No we are not. In Troy we trust.
This isn't the time to lose faith in Troy Weaver now that things are coming together. I believe he has the core of the team together now and if we draft right (Armando Bacot or Trayce Jackson-Davis) and add a couple of free agents (I like Nick Richards, Nikola Vucevic, Frank Ntilikina, Donte DiVincenzo, Torrey Craig, Moussa Diabate, Kenneth Lofton Jr., and Jaylen Nowell). Try to lure James Harden, Kristaps Porzingis, Khris Middleton, Draymond Green, or Kevin Love to Detroit. Keep up the good work guys.
