This Is Why The Toronto Raptors REALLY Fired Nick Nurse

The Toronto Raptors have just FIRED head coach Nick Nurse. The man who led the franchise to the 2019 championship will be looking for a new job as Masai Ujiri and the Raptors start their search for a new head coach.

Just one year ago Nurse, was regarded as a coveted piece to have for any team, so how did we get to this point where he is out of work? Things did not go to plan for the Raptors this season who slumped to a 41-41 record and lost in the play-in tournament to the Chicago Bulls. The Raptors were hoping to win a playoff series this season but didn’t even manage to get to the NBA playoffs at all and certainly, Nurse needs to shoulder the blame.

After all of the success Nurse had in Toronto, was one bad season with a mediocre roster enough o warrant dismissing him from his position? There is something else at play here, that is revealed in this video.

  1. I'm a bit scared tbh because in a world where Doc Rivers has a stable job coaching the 76ers, it really goes to show how few good coaches there are. However I do admit that Nurse had to go if we are going to try to develop any players moving forward. He was simply too stubborn in his winning mentality, if you wanna call it that, to give our bench guys playing time. Say all you want about where the actual skill level of our bench is adequate or not, we will never see them develop if they don't play.

  2. Interestingly, Masai Ujiri said many times that Nurse made a mistake with his press conference comments, but Nurse was repeatedly asked if he regrets his comments and he always said no

  3. I just think he lost most of the lockerroom. I think the rap need to think long and hard who they will let or trade and who they keep. With the way most of the players playing poor. Nurse was with the team 5 year maybe it was is time was up

  4. I think you're right this team needed a reset. Give Ime this roster and see if a change of philosophy can yield better results. If a good coach can't get good results next year I think Toronto has to consider blowing up the core.

  5. Change is needed and welcomed IMO. Really ain’t far off though. I don’t care who you are… if you use 28 different starting line-ups in a season….Your best defensive player misses 15 games at the exact wrong times, and your big off season acquisition fakes a toe injury to enjoy a paternal with his Canadian in-laws….you can’t be consistent. These ain’t excuses they’re facts. This team only needs a small re-tool.

  6. nick nurse definitely had a few good moments but towards the end he started over coaching to much and it honestly made the team worse

  7. I honestly thought Nurse was worth giving one more year but tbh your initial reasoning makes a lot of sense. If they’re gonna shake everything up, the quickest route to the reset button starts with the coaching. Thanks for your service NN. You’re the Raptors coaching GOAT.
