I think he’ll be fine. Part of me thinks this is getting blown up to give him cover to have rested in the finale against Brooklyn. He’s banged up, sure, but I’m confident he would’ve played if he had to and will play against Boston.

Sprained LCL is a 1-2 week injury it will be 10 days since he played last….Embiid is not going to miss Game 1.

  3. InfieldFlyRules

If only we had Jimmy Butler, then the Nets wouldn’t have tried to injure Embiid for 3 straight games.

If he doesnā€™t play Game 1 itā€™s over. Hard to come back down 1-0 in any series.

Itā€™s really insane of this happens every year. We go up 3-1 or 3-0 in the playoffs. Joel gets some injury and doesnā€™t play play at the end of the 1st round then heā€™s hurt and canā€™t do what he needs too in the 2nd round and we lose

This really isn’t anything we didn’t already know? We just have a specific diagnosis now, lol. He’s playing.

Nets spent three games very obviously trying to hurt him. Game one they dove straight into his knees

Jesus Christ I canā€™t deal with the mfs over exaggerating/hyperventilating in the replies. Ppl donā€™t understand how theyā€™re driving Joel out of Philly with these shit takes.

In actually fine if he sits game 1. Highly unlikely they win that game regardless. If two more days results in a much healthier Embiid, Iā€™m all for him resting.

Considering the other structures in the Knee, it could have been a lot worse. Can be managed with antinflammatory meds assuming its a mild sprain. Not much space in the knee joint so even mild inflammation can cause swelling. Might need to adjust his minutes but I doubt he will want to miss a series against Boston.

I think we all have PTSD over how much BOS has owned us – but I feel good about our odds this year if Nets-series-Tobias can show up to take some load off Embiid. Weā€™re a deeper and more talented team than we have been years past.

Weā€™re also the 3 seed only a few games behind BOS/MIL in the standings despite how many games our core missed. Couldā€™ve easily had the best record in the NBA with the roster we will have playing this next series.

Jacque Bin Laden should be sent to prison. He literally admitted in an in-game micā€™d up that he wanted his players to hit a Sixer as much as possible

  13. Thegrandmistressofoz

Nets are a dogshit franchise with a clown coach publicly saying they need to hit Embiid every play.

This reminds me of 2021, of course Joel’s gonna be out there and play. But in 2021, as the game progressed, Joel got gassed out FAST and worse and worse as we got closer

Just having his presence out there is super impactful. Word to shaq

People are really dramatic over here lol. Its not really a bad injury. He probably will be close to 100% by game 3

Still nothing new to me. Brace sounds precautionary. 10 days is a lot of rest for this type of injury

  18. Prestigious-Rock201

Why everybody freaking out? This shit is tame compared to whatā€™s heā€™s had before. Some dudes now are playing with worse injuries

  19. BigEvil621

So at this point itā€™s not a matter of if heā€™ll play (he will) itā€™s how heā€™ll play.

  20. We learned about the sprain yesterday – is the statement about the brace supported or is it speculation? I’ve seen “he may” and “he will” on different sources

  21. PleasantTrust522

10-day rest (possibly 12) for a Grade 1 LCL sprain is reasonable. He certainly wonā€™t be at 100%, but heā€™ll be fine. Plus heā€™s getting world class rehab.

  22. Physical_Cry9336

Welp. He can get his MVP and load manage next year at least

  23. Flyingchairs

You could build a robot with all the injury related gear Embiid has had to wear in the playoffs

  24. GarfieldFromGarfield

i donā€™t doubt that heā€™ll play, but his potential lack of conditioning is what scares me

  25. brokensicario

Not interested in the woe is me.

Celtics aren’t god-tier. This team has shown resilience all season. Embiid will get through. Something about this squad hits different.

    Fuck it. All in.
