Hawks guard Dejounte Murray spoke just now in Boston about his one-game suspension tonight. What led up to the bump with the official at the end of Game 4? “A lot.”

I’m not surprised that he was suspended, but I’m still annoyed that nothing happened to Tatum- no fine, warning, etc. Surely it was grounds for a tech? Idk

“It is what it is” said the star player as he gears up to watch his team’s elimination game from a hotel room.

I guess with this suspension we can never really be sure who would have won the series full strength. Just one of those what if’s.

I made the mistake of going through the thread about this on r/nba, where almost every comment was calling him immature and an idiot and claiming he just wanted his vacation to start early.

Murray is a competitor who wants to WIN, suggesting anything else is braindead. It was always going to be a difficult game to win, but when you’re giving everything you have on the court and a ref continuously makes calls that limit your teams chances, it feels hopeless.

I don’t know when r/nba began to treat refs like flawless benevolent gods who deserve the upmost reverence and respect, but generally i disagree with groveling bootlickers and I think refs should be held accountable for their mistakes. I’m glad Dejounte stood up for himself and the team and showed a little passion. The only result as far as I’m concerned, game 5 is now a trap game for Boston

You know what everyone is missing in this whole scenario. Everyone thought that Tatum was going after Trae when he shoved the one ref out of the way, when in reality he was heading to another ref to get them to review the play that ended up being called a flagrant. Why run to that ref? This is the same ref that Murray bumped at the end. If anyone can actually watch this game in full and not see how one sided this ref’s calls were toward Boston are not being truthful.

Someone in the comments here just called DJM a martyr. Let me explain something here:

If you’re gonna yell at & bump a ref, do it during the game. The **minuscule** best case scenario, you get the crowd riled up & *maybe* a few later calls go your way.

You do it after the game, you stand to gain nothing. Literally NOTHING. You look like a sore loser who can’t control his emotions.

Dejounte, thanks for telling us you know the refs’ names & you consider yourself one of the most respectful players but you made an uphill battle even steeper for … absolutely nothing. **The NBA refs do not have some newly found appreciation for the heart & competitive spirit of the Atlanta Hawks.**
