this quote sticks out to me especially when you think of oshae and yuta.
[usually when he (masai) believes in something, he’s right. it’s hard if he gets a first rounder here and a second rounder here whatever and he feels like okay those guys are going to help us and they don’t get to play i think maybe that will definitely start some issues between a coach and a gm if thats the case.](https://youtu.be/ijpgPmSIoug?t=137)

Refreshing to hear a player’s comments. Chris is a gem
Massive_Secretary658
I mean whats he supposed to say? lol
DarkChocolate_69
I was gonna post this on here after listening to it and I can’t lie… this man is a true redditor 😂
I agree with everything he said. I fuckin LOVED when he mentioned the last 2 wins against Charlotte and saying “who gives a fuck about Charlotte” 😭
All in all, this video made me like him even way more haha. Just something about players being forward with their opinions
codyftu
To be fair to Nick, whenever we did see the bench guys other than Dowtin, Boucher, and Precious; they were pretty awful most of the time
mMounirM
I mean the only raptors bench players who are relevant are Boucher, Precious, Koloko, Dowtin and Banton.
the rest is very meh.
Koloko got a lot of run before we got Poeltl. I feel like Banton should have played more.
but players like Malachi Flynn have been given several chances already.
-vinay
Everyone should watch this clip. Especially those convinced that Nurse is the scapegoat and that we have zero talent. Yes we would all like too have a top 5 player on the team, but to hear how everyone came to training camp motivated and better only to not get playing time is deflating.
chrisPjelly
Maaan everybody kept memeing about Flynn being happy that Nick is gone, but I swear Nick low key HATED Chris. He must be breathing a sigh of relief lol (some of the poor decision making that got him benched is still on him, tho).
KratosSmash
They all play like shit. They didn’t earn playing time with the way they’re playing. You have to show something at least and only Dowtin did that
ilickedysharks
On one hand I remember all the times the bench couldn’t go out there for 2 minutes without giving up a lead and just being horrible. On the other hand it felt like Nurse was randomly picking guys out of a hat to be in the rotation or not.
Mysterious-Meat810
If your on the bench you have to believe that 💯 or your not in the NBA. That said, none of them were playable last year. Whether that’s on the system Nurse used or they just lack talent isn’t known yet. Bench is young and hopefully one of them develops shooting tough over the summer.
odontodoc
Boucher says it like it is. He needs to be given a studio gig once he retires. I can so see him being like James Worthy on TV.
AlexRescueDotCom
Chris needs to do AMA on r/torontoraptors
FriendlyFireHaHa
Boucher does himself no favours with his bad on court habits. Ballhogging all the time and making low IQ plays defensively. If Chris Boucher is someone that needs more minutes on your team, you’re in big trouble.
ScotlandBarnes
I think people forget just how awful the bench was. They would’ve played more if they could last over 3 mins without totally blowing the lead the starters created. Lowest scoring bench in the league for a reason.
Nat_Feckbeard
Let’s fucking goooooo. I want all the dirty laundry aired
henry_why416
Boucher could be right about the bench. Or this could be Matt Thomas Redux. Hard to say. In the Thomas affair, this sub was screaming to “unleash the beast” in Mr. 99%. Turns out when it finally happened that Thomas was a pylon on defence. Even worse than GTJ. And NN was right to bench him all along.
hypespud
Called this out from the beginning of the season when Paul Jones and Sherman Hamilton peddled the lines of Nick Nurse direction that they have to play the starters to win and the team doesn’t have a choice. There was a clear issue with not playing the bench and giving them no chances and more importantly playing starters way too many minutes who aren’t good enough to play that many minutes.
The problem was the starters when playing don’t win against anyone, so there was never an excuse not to develop players.
whittnasty9
I am so sick of the mixed, incoherent signals from all the players and the entire FO. The FO obviously didn’t wanna tank, they are convinced this roster is a contender. SO why would NN play a bunch of dudes who should be in the D league? He would if the FO wanted to develop and tank, which they did not. Ridiculous that everyone blames the head coach (ex)
N0minal
After he mentions Fred, Norm, Pascal. All guys who developed under Casey.
Y’all seriously. Please watch more ball. Or go play even. Nurse was making up his rotations each game. Throwing out guys at random like it’s fucking 2k is not how it works. And what’s funny is we see guys who get into a good system with a coach that knows how to deal with humans play well. Not all-star or 6 man level, but do things to help the team overall (except Svi. He’s actually just horrible)
Like, you were all wrong about team contending. Wrong about Yuta, wrong about Len. I’d take delusional Lakers fans over Toronto.
Winter_Purpose8695
Whenever I see the bench unit play this year it gets me thinking “why aren’t they running any plays?” “this looks like a mess”. So yeah this free flowing offense might be good for vets and starters but hell you need structure for the other guys. So when our discarded players play well on other teams it makes sense because these teams have some kind of offensive structure none of this free flowing bullshit that we use.
kingsayer
Huge respect to him saying who cares if you win against tanking team, thats what raps did this year.
Green-Umpire2297
Nobody disagrees. Except nurse. And bjorkren.
LEXX911
Man, we need to stop overhyping our bench guys. Where is Mr 99% now? How much playing time does Justin Champagnie is getting again in Boston? What team is Juancho Hernangomez on now? How many mins did Joe Wieskamp get again in San Antonio? Where is Jalen Harris?
mantistobogganmMD
Nah. Fred VanVleet shooting 39% needs to play 40mpg
