The Toronto Raptors have just FIRED head coach Nick Nurse. The man who led the franchise to the 2019 championship will be looking for a new job as Masai Ujiri and the Raptors start their search for a new head coach.
Just one year ago Nurse, was regarded as a coveted piece to have for any team, so how did we get to this point where he is out of work? Things did not go to plan for the Raptors this season who slumped to a 41-41 record and lost in the play-in tournament to the Chicago Bulls. The Raptors were hoping to win a playoff series this season but didn’t even manage to get to the NBA playoffs at all and certainly, Nurse needs to shoulder the blame.
After all of the success Nurse had in Toronto, was one bad season with a mediocre roster enough o warrant dismissing him from his position? There is something else at play here, that is revealed in this video.

How do y'all feel about trying to grab Trae young? We need a superstar, but not sure he's the answer because he's not a team player. Imo Trade Pascal for a Gobert like haul, keep FVV because we don't have a starting or backup point guard. Ditch Fred if we are getting a point guard upgrade, he will have a better season if he starts doing more pick and rolls with Poetl. Build around OG, Barnes, and Poetl. Stop talking about trading OG. No way we find a two way player like him on the market.

Good coach but not a developmental coach. Played the same player who was losing and didn't give the Youngs a try. This year was about building what we had. Nobody other than scotty had a chance as gar as the young guys go

I thought he should’ve had one more year but I wanna thank NN and beg him to join a rebuilding western conference team so he doesn’t eat our lunch for the next 5 years. He’s our Raptors coaching GOAT and should be honoured appropriately years from now.
I recived lots of questions about saying Masai Ujiri said Nurse's comments didn't factor into the decision. Masai Ujiri also said that Nick Nurse knows he made a mistake with his comments, even though Nurse repeatedly said he doesn't regret what he said. I believe it DID factor into the decision and Masai is saving face by saying it didn't.
The Raptors need a new coach and better players. They made the right decision letting Nurse go

Udoka would be a great coach for us. Strip down the staff and start a new
Nurse is and was not a good head coach. He got credit for the championship which had little to do with him. They exited the bubble playoffs due to terrible coaching. They have continues to fail and players have not developed due to Nick Nurse. He does not play his bench very weel if at all and most will flee given the chance. Starters may flee as well, we will see. This is not a bad team, it just had a bad head coach.

Thanks for 2019 Championship. Nick never developed his players in 5 years to next level. Non of the players cannot play clutch shots @ crucial games. He trusted only his starters and drain their energy and seldom used bench players never and unable showcase their talents.
Again, this is business only winning culture helps the fan base and identity.

I think NN gave up on this team….the guy never played or developed his bench players and just tired out his starters with minutes.
I want to see a coach who will actually develop his bench instead of blame them for all of the team's woes. The rotation needs time and consistent reps to develop so its not really fair to blame the bench IMO. Seems odd that we have refused to give any PG a chance to develop. From Malaki, to Banton, and recently to the mismanaged Dowtin situation. Instead we overplay a PG who is statistically one of the worst 3P shooters in the league, cannot play perimeter defence, has limited court vision, and constantly plays hero ball at the end of shot clocks. Hard to believe.

Clearly Nick and Masai stopped seeing eye to eye at some point. You can tell there is tension there IMO….did u notice how Masai took ZERO blame for the state of the organization? When he's talking about the vibe of the team…..I mean, the buck stops with Masai no? I'm starting to think Masai is a snake…..like what he did to DeMar too. And now putting the raps lack of success on Nick when he gave him a brutal roster.
It’s like Jason Kidd… is there ever a point where people move on from what was done in the past? As long as Udoka keeps it in his pants ( which I’m sure he would at this point), he’ll be fine. Udoka paid for his transgressions with his job. I don’t think that should be held over his head forever.

Its not easy to find smart innovative successful coaches and get them to come to Canada willingly and stay through the good and bad times. Definitely someone who can develop young players and utilizes the bench effectively would be the best replacement. Nick was invested in the community as he was Coach of team Canada yet had one foot out the door keeping his eye on greener pastures thus was not fully committed as a head coach here in Toronto. He will sign for big money somewhere down south no tears shed he wins either way as hes paid for next year to stay home. Wish him well except against us.
