Not a superstar yet, definitely a great star tho

  2. ZEFAGrimmsAlt

Weā€™d be stupid if we said criticsm wasnā€™t occasionally more than warranted. Yesterday was one of those days. 1/10 from three. After 1/6 just stop shooting unless youā€™re closest man is having a picnic at the free throw line.

However the shit like ā€œoh my god heā€™s the softest superstar in the leagueā€ ā€œoh my god trade Tatum build around Brownā€ ā€œoh my god heā€™s not a leaderā€ ā€œoh my god he never takes responsibilityā€ are complete and utter bullshit victim of the moment statements that are just fucking stupid to see.

  3. DerelictDonkeyEngine

He played like shit yesterday. You’re not more of a Celtics fan than I am because you refuse to acknowledge that.

I’m not less of a Tatum fan than you for saying that.

Get the fuck off your self righteous high horse.

  4. SaveHogwarts

Heā€™s a young guy thatā€™s an ascending superstar. He was in the MVP conversation for a portion of the season, still top 5 in that regard.

People too often look at bad instances instead of an entire body of work. We remember the bad things but not all the good things, because we get spoiled by the regularity of the good to the point where a bar gets set higher and higher and if it isnā€™t hit, itā€™s a let down.

Heā€™s one of the 10 best players in the league right now. Brown is one of the top 20-25.

The best players, the best teams, the best anything canā€™t be the best 24/7.

Wouldā€™ve hated to interact with a lot of the people here during the early 2000ā€™s Pierce teams

  5. No thatā€™s Bradley Beal, have you seen how much they hate him

  6. HS941317

I wish he showed half the emotion in that pic at any point this first round so far..

  7. ii-Leonidas-ii

LOL most disrespected? When you settle for 3’s and go 1-10 in an elimination game, you deserve all the disrespect, especially when you were taking the blame for losing game 3.

  8. ii-Leonidas-ii

Last playoff series Tatum completely took charge of…was……………

See what’s happening on south beach? That’s what a superstar does. They don’t go 1-10 in crunch. They don’t have more “I have to do better” than dominant performances.

Tatum has the physical talent to be top 3 if not the best in the league but he won’t realize that until his brain tells him to use those skills.

  9. LifeOfGemini

Itā€™s just because he could realistically have a Lebrun Like Legacy. If the Cā€™s have some luck thrown their way over the next decade – he could Fuck Around and end up the GOAT. I feel like heā€™s not there as a closer yet.

  10. patsandceltics316

Tatum cost us the championship last year for not showing up. He’s BARELT showing up against a terrible hawks team that shouldn’t be in the playoffs. Super inconsistent and NEVER stops taking horrible contested shots with lots left on the clock.

He was like the 5th best player but did all the shooting and decision making when the game needed to be put away. Extremely disappointed this whole series

  11. 21Tayler10

Itā€™s disrespectful to point out the fact that heā€™s playing bad ??? Ok lmfao

  12. dolo_ran6er

He had a bad game. He bounces back tomorrow night, we will be fine! The doomers need to fuckin relax.

  13. marcusissmart

Whenever the celtics lose a playoff game, I feel like I have to stay away from this sub until th next game

  14. Background-Low-9144

In my opinion, I think the frustration is that while Tatum has been a superstar and consistent as night after night, he doesn’t ever seem to take over games really. Like ” Give me the fkn ball it’s mine I’m scoring every time” attitude that some guys like Kobe, Dame, Butler, etc seem to have had/ have. Yes, if they suck, it sinks their team, but I think we would love to see a more personally aggressive Tatum sometimes that just demands the ball. He’s more of a team player and the team doesn’t think that way so maybe that’s the limiter, but overall that seems to be where the anger comes from.

  15. ThroughTheWildNight

You must not see other fanbases if you think heā€™s the most disrespected by his fanbase lol.

Tatum gets hate when heā€™s ass, other fanbases (like the team weā€™re e literally playing) beg for their star to be traded all season.

  16. yellowboar7

I agree. Whatā€™s also been pissing me off is the amount of people dickriding Jimmy Butler and comparing him to Tatum. Or saying theyā€™d rather have Jimmy Butler on the team. Go be a heat fan if you wanna suck off another player off that hard off of one series. Jimmy has had plenty of moments where he has choked too, donā€™t be victims of the moment

  17. BoofButter

He just curls up into a fetal position whenever we need to close a game out. You canā€™t be an MVP candidate and constantly be the reason we blow leads

  18. Champion-of-the-Sun5

There’s valid criticism of Tatum. I think shaming and name calling fans who shine a light on it is pretty immature.

Why is “doomers” a thing? This team hasn’t won a title yet.

In any event. This team is by far the best roster in the league. There’s no excuse this year and I think they should probably get it done, barring a monumental choke

  19. BallinLikeimKD

Iā€™m a huge Tatum fan but he is nowhere to be found to often for a ā€œsuperstarā€. I watched many possessions last game where he just stood in one spot at the 3 point line and made no effort to cut or drive to the basket. Tatum is at least 6ā€™9 and plays so small sometimes itā€™s frustrating to watch. He will likely bounce back but at some point if you have to keep bouncing back it really calls into question your consistency. Off nights are to be expected but when the 3 isnā€™t falling and youā€™re 6ā€™9 you need to be driving to the basket and shooting mid range. If Tatum was more aggressive like Jimmy butler or even Jaylen Brown he would be a top 3-5 player

  20. ManyIsBetterThanFew

This squad can’t get it done time to blow it up. Even the raptors have a recent ring and everyone in Boston thinks the Celtics are better smh.

  21. TheFirstExecutioner

Offers valid criticisms after he plays terribly = most disrespected star?

  22. yourlilpissboi

Tatum, Marcus and Joe deserve criticism and should be held accountable. Theyā€™re going to lose respect of the fans when they keep failing when they show up and play a decent game for 43 minutes and piss themselves or get lost during the last 5 minutes of a game they have ā€œwonā€ up to that point.

Everyone saying or using the term ā€œdoomerā€ is self telling like all the non Celticā€™s fans who say smart is nothing but a flopper oppose to he is a smart bball player on the def side, understands the rules or embellishes to get the call. Not everything is flopping; everyone that is angry, disappointed or upset arenā€™t ā€œdoomersā€. I will admit if people are just acting like typical Boston sports fans and adding up no context and shitting on the players then yah you can be upset but we live in a reactionary time with social media that allow everyone to be heard and seen.

If a hypothetical switch exists and they need to flip it to get up against bad teams well thatā€™s a problem esp in the playoffs. A lot of this also comes back to my belief of the ā€œcompounding effectā€ in sports. Limit the amount of unnecessary minutes, physical/mental exertion and the chance of injuries. These things add up.

Having a lead an not being able to play or execute and close games out during crunch time is a problem and a big one for this team. They are probably the worst in the league at holding late leads.

The Celtics lost in the Finals last year due to Tatum and Brown being gassed, Tatum injured, Marcus not playing high iq ball at times, lack of experience, steph going off among other things. Tatum said after he never wanted to feel that way again. Last night would have been a good time to show it and prove it.

Before last nights game the road to the finals was shaping up perfectly for the Celtics. They decided they werenā€™t interested or showed they havenā€™t learned from previous mistakes that they always talk about after games just like this. This year they probably have lost at least 10-11 games due to meltdowns. This shows a track record that should be concerning. Being disappointing in the players and coaching stuff is reasonable.

I feel like, and this is anecdotal, that last nights lost more than likely cost them a chance to get to or compete for a championship. They need to do better esp if they want to compete for finals and actually win them. Do they make the finals? Maybe, maybe not. Remains to be seen.

Still a fan of the players and team but if they dont make the finals and everyone is still healthy(75%+) this season has been a failure and tough questions will need to be asked and answered in the off season and hopefully Brad makes the proper moves.

Im a huge Marcus smart fan and think heā€™s an amazing player and a better human being but a point in time comes when you evaluate whats happening on the court and if theyā€™re able to perform at the level needed to win, unfortunately Tatum and Brown seem to have an inability to make ā€œwinningā€ plays as well during crunch time that have led to lost games and extended series.

Celtics in 6 and onto Philly?! LFG!

  23. Bewilderbeest79

I keep telling myself to remember Game 6 in Milwaukee last year ā€¦

  24. NotFlipkid

People don’t realize who the doomers are, the doomers are the positivity people that make excuses for the team, don’t get frustrated/upset with losing etc.

  25. Unable_Beautiful_650

Honestly thoughā€¦.How do you guys support him so much when he complains after every single play and plays with such little energy? (All while have a very low shooting percentage) Itā€™s very easy to not respect that style of play, which is why many fans across the country arenā€™t fans. Heā€™s a just a very difficult star to fully support. Just because heā€™s wearing green doesnā€™t mean we have to like the way he plays. He needs to do better.

  26. GrayBox1313

Respectā€¦of course. But We do need him to step it up in big moments. He was the guy that needed to close the game out. Mamba mentality. stat lines donā€™t really matter. Situations do.

We saw lebron the other night score Zero points in the 4th and then he drove to the basket and won the game. Thatā€™s what MVP all nba superstars are supposed to do.
