The LA Clippers season came to an end last night after losing to the Phoenix Suns 136-130. Russell Westbrook finished with 14 points and went 3-of-18 from the floor. Before the game Paul George told reporters he has vouched for Westbrook to return to the Clippers. And after the game, Ty Lue had high praise for Westbrook’s contributions to the team this year. Russell Westbrook is crucial, whether he gets points on the board or not. If we want to still talk down on his shooting game, we can look at Dennis Rodman. During his two-game stretch back in 93, he scored 0 points and had I believe 49 rebounds without researching fully. Just to make it known in-case people think I haven't thought of this already, yeah Westbrook isn't as a defensive player as Rodman but he's still more of a defensive player and is still crucial to the team. On top of that, he showed us that if he's shooting hot he can easily get points on the board. I mean, look at Game 2 he went 28-5-5. In the playoffs 28 points is a lot, especially for someone that people consider 'Westbrick'. So to say that Westbrook doesn't have it anymore or that he isn't a crucial piece of the team, I would question how much of a basketball fan any of those people are. Common sense tells you that Westbrook still has it. Albeit inconsistent, but he still has it. It is fair to say that no team should rely on his inconsistency to win championships. He definitely needs help on the floor and with this team he's been playing well.
Klaw, PG and Russ adding DeMar DeRozan to a 4 man rotation of 3 positions running it back next season. Coach Lue ain't going anywhere. Players want to go where Lue goes. Agents meddling is what messes it up. And the Steven A Trump-Putin talking heads.

Russ has to be managed. His athleticism and effort is compromised by his wrecklessness and bad decision making. Ty Lue did not use Zubac, Covington or Boston effectively. In game adjustments or the lack thereof killed the Clippers. Morris and the Frenchman are old and slow. PG and Kawhai are injury riddled to the extent that it's too risky to build around them. Their contracts compound the team's problems. An infusion of new talent is a must. Finally, I suspect Kawhai has no interest in playing with Russ; so developing Bones is a must!
Bad closeout game for Russ but he showed heart the whole series, which is something this clippers team desperately lacks. Whether he's back in LA or somewhere else, Russ deserves a lot of respect for this playoff series.
