Imagine if we traded for Mitchell instead of Gobert!
SportzWrap
Yep, we ended up with the exact same result as the Cavs this season.
The real winner here is the Jazz of course, they got an All Star, and All-Rookie player, and 7 unprotected firsts … they were a dead end team just 12 months ago and look at em now

Cavs were outrebounded by 30! Will Mobley and Allen catch the same heat Gobert did?
AJbandero
Yes national media will only hate on the Wolves…
PlayInChampions
Mitchell is obviously way better asset than Gobert especially after this year, but let’s not forget that Cavs were fully healthy the whole season and the playoffs, and somehow looked worse than the Wolves in playoffs. Mitchell Robinson dominated their bigs throughout the series.

So our guys had much more of a learning curve in acclimating the starting 5. Our max player who is crucial to that acclimation period gets hurt for most of the year. Then we lose 2 crucial guys for the playoffs and another for the last game. We were also facing the #1 seeded Nuggets with a 2 time MVP. We both lost 4-1 but they were playing the Knicks. What’s their excuse?

Its kind of hilarious how this is getting no pub while the Wolves continue to be roasted. The trade package the Cavs gave up was insane, and while Mitchell is better they are in the same spot as the Wolves

I keep saying the Wolves should trade Towns and I get downvoted to shit everytime. It’s been 6 years and multiple playoff chokes by him. I dunno how much else our fans need to see if you can get a haul for him do it
Shepher27
Both teams made bad trades
Intelligent_Pain_174
People talk about being a great playoff performer but his numbers are about the same in this series as his career averages. He has had multiple playoff series where he has shot under 40% and has been consistently horrible on defense.

I mean, the difference is that Donovan Mitchell is probably going to be all NBA first team

Jazz fan here. We totally fleeced you guys this off-season but Ainge pulled something that was maybe even more of a fleece with Cleveland. Lauri is going to be better than Donovan just because he’s 7 feet, a decent rim protector, great rebounder and solid defender and he’s one of the most efficient offensive players in the NBA. If we get a good point guard that can get him the ball in his spots (Lauri isn’t great in iso yet) he’s going to be a perennial all nba player for years. Don for Lauri straight up is prolly fair, but we also got Agbaji, Sexton, and control over their draft picks for five years. I think the Cavs messed up worse than y’all

I think both teams are similar in the sense that all the pieces don’t quite fit, but overall the Wolves’ makeup (in the starting unit in particular) makes more sense.
Both twin towers lineups have their limitations, but Rudy and KAT’s games complement each other more with KAT’s offensive firepower. Mobley may eventually develop a perimeter game to provide sufficient spacing, but until that happens he and JAllen are fairly redundant on O, but great on D. Wolves have the ability to be very good on both ends.
Ant and Conley compliment each other well in many ways where Mitchell and Garland are also redundant, mostly due to Mitchell’s usage undercutting Garland’s ability to effect the game consistently. Where Conley and Ant can both effect the same game positively in different ways in the same game. Plus Ant’s size, strength and emerging defense gives us the edge, even if the Cavs backcourt combines for 70 once in a blue moon.
Then you have Jaden vs literally anyone else on the Cavs roster they opt to roll out which isn’t even the discussion. Same goes for SloMo off the bench.
Bickerstaff also shown some cracks in the playoff armor and couldn’t figure out the adjustment vs the Knicks, much like Finch vs Denver.
Both teams will retool around the margins and complimentary pieces on their bench, but I think we are in a solid spot to retain our 2026 pick with Utah opting to swap for the Cavs pick instead of ours.

Cavs have a really strong core and solid fit, not to mention their big four are all between 21 and 26. They just need to figure out their wing situation. Not really comparable.
I still think the Cavs would do this trade, knowing the result. Wolves…I don’t think so.
ANTfanclub
Weren’t thr Cavs healthy almost all year?
verify_deez_nuts
In another comparison, the Wolves have “show of hands” and the Cavs have the Dan Gilbert LeBron letter written in Comic Sans.

yeah the cope is def real in here. mitchell is a way better player and the cavs are a squad of rooks basically. they didnt lose the trade at all
