Heat upset top-seeded Bucks 1st Rd, Giannis says season ‘not a failure’ | NBA | FIRST THINGS FIRST

Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat shocked the Milwaukee Bucks by eliminating the one-seed in five games with a 128-126 win in Game 5. Butler hit a mid-air catch and release inbounds pass to force overtime. Butler finished with 42 points and the Heat become just the sixth eight-seed to upset a one-seed in NBA history. Nick Wright, Chris Broussard and Kevin Wildes discuss.

  1. Now let's see if the NBA will stop us from winning a championship this year. The heat has a chance to go all the way. Will beat the Knicks in 6. Because the rating will be out the roof. Then we also have heat fans in New York.. let go heat.

  2. I'm just trying to imagine how people would react if Embiid missed 13 free throws in an elimination game…but of course I can't imagine Embiid doing that.

  3. Who can respect those… Not to mention Denver at all is pathetic and I'm happy ppl love the show… 😢😂 Show to me ppl don't have a clue pretty much… Not all of course 😉

  4. Greek choked. He did nothing in the 4th abd ot. He didn't guard Butler and fouled a 3 point shooter lare in the game. He missed 13 fts. He just didn't do it.

  5. Nick is always so surprised when Chris disagrees with him, as if his is the only legitimate opinion.

  6. What did Giannis expect people to call title favorites to lose on the 1st round? Success? Last year, the Lakers (no playoffs) and Nets (sweeped in the 1st round) were failures and they were lower seeded teams.

  7. I’m with Brou on this one Grayson been in the league 5 years, played at the most prestige CBB school, All-American, 3rd playoff appearance. He’s gotta atleast get a shot up

  8. Plenty of people have called Giannis «The Best Basketball Player in The World». Has he ever really been that? I’ve been a fan of the sport and the league since the 80s and I can’t say I’ve ever enjoyed watching him play.

The mechanics of his shot is still medieval – I’m mildly surprised whenever anything – 3s, mid-range or free throws – he heaves in the direction of the the basket goes in. His freakishly long legs is good for the open court but they make for clumsy footwork. Those long strides and wide pivots usually gets him stuck in the congested traffic of the playoffs – unless one long extra step bails him out. It does not seem like he has developed any real go-to post-up moves apart from a turn-around fadeaway that gets him a shot he doesn’t have the skill to make consistently.

Compare him to truly skilled big men like Embiid, Jokic, Durant and Davis and he still looks raw. Has he – apart from growing bigger shoulders – really improved in anything over the last few years?

Yes, I get it. Giannis has a motor and a heart second to none. The journey of his life is unreal. Somehow he manages to put up these huge numbers – seemingly through sheer energy, effort and willpower. He stayed with the team that drafted him, put them on his back and carried them to the promised land in 2021, no doubt about that.

And what do I know after all? In the Pantheon of basketball he’s climbing just below the peak of Everest while I never got off the beach. But I have never seen an upper elite NBA-player so lacking skill wise. What he has accomplished in spite of that is just mind boggling.

  9. if miami played philly u better believe the mental strength is with miami

  10. Grayson tucked the ball & was running for the endzone! He was right on the 1-yard line! Almost made it.🤣 He just forgot where he was. Thought it was football. Poor guy. He was having flashbacks.

  11. Don’t tell Nick, LeBron is one of the biggest failure in the history of basketball, year 20 but only 4 rings.

  12. There are no in-betweens , there's YES or No, GOOD or BAD , FAILURE or SUCCESS that's why it's called the NBA PLAYOFFS

  13. If Jimmy put 56 nd 42 on league best defense(holiday,Lopez and Giannis) top 5 he gone definitely destroy New York wit no Randle

  14. So nick wrong says sports is about wins and loses, but when it comes to mj, lebron debate he don’t wanna count rings. Huh.

  15. All great teams hit bumps and some even had seasons that were failures, even some of the best of all time. Jordan was swept twice by Birds Celtics, The 9 time in a row champion Celtics got destroyed by Lakers led by Wilt and West in the conference championship back in the day, it took Kobe and Shaq 3 seasons to get to the finals. It happens, the bucks need to get some better pieces around Giannis and more depth on the bench and they will be a major threat yet again.

  16. Hope the Bucks break up this team because who really wants to follow a team that choaks so badly in front of so many NBA
    Followers.

  17. Lol coming from a guy that gives lakers 20% chance to win the Finals over other teams I'm done

  18. What’s funny is Nick tries to take down Jordan but has accidentally found himself praising Jimmy Butler, the son of Michael Jordan. He don’t even realize the greatness Jimmy has comes from his father’s competitive spirit and winner mentality
