As a Celtics fan, nothing but respect for the way the hawks competed. I thought it would be a cakewalk and Trae young absolutely was phenomenal. Credit to Collins too for bouncing back. Curious how Hunters development progresses into next year, feel like he could be a legit #2 or 3 option.
Hawks: Yeah we lost when it mattered. Again. Now can we have the 400 dollar monthly payment for next seasons tickets?

All these dumbass Celtics fans need to get tf out of this sub
Fade me, fam.
This season was a fail. So much hype was brought into this team and we under performed. Bad luck we matched up with the Celtics but we shouldn’t have been a play-in team to begin with. I hope some changes happen in the off-season.
If anyone wonders why we can’t ban people who repeatedly comment and troll like dick heads in our sub it’s because Smoove took away all but his mod powers to ban/unban users without telling us 🙁
Yes we’ve asked him multiple times on modmail and mod discussion and no reply.
I’ve also shot him multiple DMs over many months.
So the rest of us can only remove and report comments. It makes modding the sub in times like this really shitty.
But y’all worth it. 🫶🏽
🫠
Respect Hawks fans.
Both national and local Boston media were completely dismissive of you guys leading into this series (as was I, in all honesty) and boyyyy did you prove everyone wrong. You guys came to play and had us all sweating. Trae is legit.
I’m excited to see why Snyder does this offseason. He made great adjustments in this series and (I think) proved he’s the coach Trae needs. He’s now going to Thanos this roster and build one that suits his style of play. I’m cautiously optimistic.
Lots of credit to the Hawks, just goes to show the standard of the NBA that the 8 seed wins in 5 and the 7 pushes the 2 to the limit when in previous years teams would get swept without much fanfare. I think all of us Celtics fans were dismissive but this is the NBA and you don’t get into the playoffs nowadays without being a good ass team. Good luck next season
trying to refrain from any sweeping judgments off this one game but DJ has a LOT to work on this summer if he’s gonna be here. he’s currently one dimensional on both ends of the court. offensively if the middy’s not falling he’s easy to defend, and then defensively if he’s not getting a steal he’s getting blown by.
Trae of course needs to figure out what’s wrong with his shot and try to raise his BBIQ floor. like his IQ is generally among the highest in the league but he’s capable of doing REALLY dumb shit so he needs to set a higher BBIQ minimum lmao. proud of the strides he’s made defensively. if possible, i would love for him to pack on even more size and work on his explosiveness. i need him to be more of a force in the paint so he can be even more effective offensively.
both these dudes need to move off-ball. this whole team needs to move off-ball. we have no cutters. AJ seems like the only one with cutting instincts.
areas of opportunity for everybody who’s likely coming back
JJ: shooting and confidence
Saddiq: defensive awareness
OO: shooting and handle, if he’s gonna be short he’s gonna have to be able to take some dudes off the dribble
AJ: defensive awareness
Bogi: knees
areas of opportunity for guys who might be outta here
CC: FINISHING. he’s never gonna be a good shooter but damn at least get you some post moves
JC: shooting, strength, handle/coordination. as a starting 4 he is not anywhere near good enough with the ball in his hands. aside from the occasional sexy drive to the basket, he’s awfully clumsy. he has his spots but he’s not reliably good at getting to them so he can easily disappear from game to game.
Dre: shooting, handle, strength, BBIQ, defensive awareness.
disappointing season but man what a fun ride those playoff wins were magical.
let Quin cook.
Solid season for yall.
Trae has ice in his veins
Celtics fan here. Y’all were a headache and ya’ll got guys that can hit some tough ass shots. Pls refrain from meeting us again, thank you.
Lame but oh well, caused a little chaos had a chance to win ,restored some confidence after the first two games. Realistically better than what we expected so hopefully can improve for next year
I have a lot of thoughts but I’m drunk and annoyed so I’ll save them until they’re more organized
But you know what
Lemon Pepper Wet > Clam Chowder
Bitches
Glad to see the Hawks fought till the end
Not to sound like a broken record because a quick scroll tells me a lot of Celtics fans are coming here, but I’d like to personally apologize to Hawks fans. I was responsible for that bit of back and forth with the screenshots from each other’s sub before game 1 how “Hawks have beaten us once in 64 years” and I was completely dismissing you guys. It was mostly just banter but I really did think the Celtics were going to wrap it up in 4 or 5 like everyone else.
Even though you guys didn’t win the series, the Hawks were extremely impressive particularly in these last 2 games where Trae buried us in game 5 and put us on notice and then you came out and it was a back and forth game up to the end. I think if this went to a game 7 it would have been similar to this game 6 where it would go down to the last 2 minutes. I was dreading suffering the same fate as the Bucks this year or like what you did to the Sixers in 2021. You guys fought hard and I think that’s more than a lot of other people were expecting. Having to fight that hard for every single rebound was so aggravating as a fan, Capela and Okongwu were huge for you guys. It was like watching Looney and Wiggins grab every board from the finals just crushing any hope of second chance points and shrinking the margin for error.
It’s hard to catch every single game of basketball so I just watch the Celtics and don’t necessarily watch enough to appreciate other team’s players as much, but Trae is truly great. Hopefully Quin turns it around for you guys and I’ll be looking forward to rooting for you in future series if it’s as a neutral fan.
any ideas for my aaron post tonight 🥲🥲
I just got home from the game. Haven’t read any comments yet. I’m just gonna say this season had its ups and downs. But we kept getting better and better. That Miami win was dominant. And we went toe to toe with a championships contender all the way to the end.
The futures bright. I love this team. I’m proud of our boys. Go Hox
It’s been real y’all. I’m gonna miss hawks basketball 🥺😭😭. These are gonna be some longgg ass 6 months. Oh well, trae is back, Quinn is an amazing fucking coach. We pushed the title favorites to 6 tough games. The future is bright. We move. Love my hawks, love this sub. Will try my best to stay as engaged as possible in this sub during the off-season. Here’s to a better future 🥂
Trae is a real one, you guys played some tough basketball. Hope to see yall next year in the playoffs again.
major props guys, played us tough
Your Hawks season ends with a loss to the Boston Celtics 120-128. I’m not too upset but it’s still kind of annoying because we could have won this. I’ll also be adding some grades for the player’s series along with their usual game rating.
Trae was good…in the first half. The first offensive possession was a scramble. Trae tried to throw a pass on to JC but it nearly got picked off. The ball was saved and Trae tried to throw a lob to a cutting JC and that got picked off for a turnover. With under 7 in the first he was able to get an And-1 floater, getting a switch against Horford. With around 5, Trae had an insane three over Marcus Smart. It looked like the Jordan Jumpman logo when he was in mid-air. With under 2, Trae hit a step-back three over Brogdon. On defense, he drew an offensive foul on White. The next possession he drew another foul on a floater attempt and made both. He did a Lebron-style step back and splashed another long-distance three. Trae was insane playing the whole first quarter and scoring 18 points on 5/10 shooting and 3/6 from three. I thought Trae was going to drop 40+ tonight. Even with his efforts the Hawks were still down one going into the second quarter. With under 7 in the second he used the screen and made a midrange jumper over Horford. With around 4, he hit another step back three from the wing over Smart. At around three minutes they ran a double screen for Trae allowing him to go downhill and find a cutting Capela for a lob. With under a minute he drove from the wing and got a floater to go in. With under 30 he drove once again and made a tricky pass ( I think the ball went under Brown’s legs) to JC who drained the three. Trae was A++ in the first half scoring 25 points and 4 assists on 8/15 shooting including 4/8 from three. For context, Murray had 0 points by half. With around 8 in the third, Trae hit a floater over Horford and drew a flagrant foul as Horford came into Trae’s landing space. Yea. The only shot he hit in the 2nd half and Trae went 1/13(!!!!) in the second half including 4 missed threes. His takeover meter ran out hard. Trae ended with 30 points, 3 rebounds, 10 assists, 1 steal, and 2 rebounds on 9/28 shots (32%) and 4/12 (33%) from three. In conclusion, it was a tale of two halves with the first half being an A+ and the second half being an F. Playmaking was average tonight with 5 turnovers to go with his 10 assists. Defensively, I thought Trae made plenty of effort tonight running around the court and he even got a block on both Brown and Tatum. Trae got a better whistle tonight and went 8/8 at the line. We were in the game at halftime because of Trae but part of the reason we lost is because he couldn’t hit the shots he normally makes in the second half. Because of this, I have no other choice but to give Trae a C tonight. For the series, I’ll give him a B- to B.
Hunter did exactly what we needed him to do. Hunter got his first shot blocked by Horford with under 9 in the first. The next possession he was able to get a floater to go in. He missed an open three on the next possession. With around 4, Hunter got to the paint and missed a relatively easy layup. Luckily he got the offensive rebound and putback. With under 3, He threw a nice kick-out pass to Bey who drilled a three. Hunter started the third with an off-the-dribble three. With around 8 Hunter hit his second three of the quarter. With under 6, he made a wide-open three off a PNR with Trae. With under 2 he cut to the rim and received a pass from Murray who had gotten an offensive rebound. With 19 seconds in the game, he had a bad turnover on the inbounds pass. Like it went across the court and nobody could get it. Hunter ended with 20 points, 6 rebounds, assist, 1 steal, and 1 block on a meh 7/17 shooting. That said I felt he hit timely shots and I didn’t know the efficiency was that “meh” until I saw the box score. Defensively I thought this was one of his better games. He didn’t get blown by constantly like earlier in the series. 6 rebounds are perfect for Hunter. B+. For the whole series, I’ll give him a C.
Capela was fine and got 10 points and 10 rebounds and 2 assists on 5/7 shooting. Capela got to the offensive glass early and made a putback. With under 8 in the first, Trae found him for a lob. With around 4 in the third Capela had a putback off a Saddiq miss. He was great on the offensive boards with 5. Defensively, he was about average. For this game I’ll give him a B-. Throughout the series, he got outplayed by Horford and even Robert Williams at times. He is not as good when playing a center that can stretch the floor. For the series, ill give him a C.
John Collins was good tonight. With around 7, JC had a steal in the paint against Jalen Brown. This led to a break opportunity and a Trae-drawn foul. With under 5, he drove to the paint and had an insane spin move and reverse layup over the defense. With under 5 in the second quarter, he buried a three. JC was the second leading scorer for the Hawks by half scoring 9 points on 3⁄4 shooting and 2⁄3 from three. JC started the third with a nice contest in Brown forcing him to pass to Horford mid-shot. He was also able to stop White from getting to the rim and forced him to pass out. He had another good defensive stop on Brown recovering nicely on a step back forcing him to pass. To start the 4th he had a bad pass leading to a turnover. He made up for it on the next possession with a floater of a pick-and-pop. With under 10, he got called for an offensive foul when he drove in on Grant and attempted a spin move. With around 8 he hit a three-off a Trae pick and pop. With around 7 Murray fed JC in the paint and he was able to take advantage and hit a turnaround floater. JC ended the game with 16 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal, and 2 blocks on 6/8 shooting and 3⁄4 from three. Defensively, he was pretty good on Jalen Brown and was top 2 on him the whole series. Rebounding was kinda low for not only this game but the whole series. A- for tonight. C for the whole series.
Bey had 7 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal on 2/7 shooting and ½ from three. With under 4 Bey got to the paint spinning for a shot that missed. He hustled, grabbed his miss and got a foul out of it. With under 3, he had a steal on Tatum but missed the shot in the break. With under 6 in the second he drove on Brogdon and made a fading midrange off the move. Not only was he inefficient, I thought he was kind of passive tonight. A few times Trae would pass him and pass and he would pass it right back for him to create. I felt he was kind of indecisive, an example being his taking too long to put the ball on the ground when the shot clock was under 10 seconds. Overall it was a meh game. D+. For the series, I think he was decent. B-.
We fought hard, proud of our boys
Season was a bummer but I honestly loved how we looked majority of this series. We played probably the most loaded team in the playoffs and had them on the ropes until the very last couple minutes.
Loved how Trae figured a lot of things out. Using his speed, playing faster, and not letting tough defenses limit him like last year. Missed shots that second half but much rather have missed shots > not taking shots at all, playing scared.
Can’t wait to see what we do in the offseason. I honestly believe with the right moves and an offseason with the emphasis of spacing, I think we could really improve so much next year.
My God as the Celtics fan I freaking hate this sub
As a Cs fan. Trae is a superstar. Maybe bottom of the list but hes a superstar.
It was a winnable game but the Celtics performed better in the crunch time. Proud of the team and keen for the next season. Is it bad I am rooting for the Knicks in the East now lol?
