Kentucky basketball is pursuing one of the greatest scorers in the 2024 class, Labaron Philon.
On today’s episode of Locked On Kentucky, Lance Dawe discusses John Calipari and Kentucky basketball’s interest in Labaron Philon, a four-star guard out of Mobile, Alabama. Philon is a bucket getter, averaging 35 points per game for Baker High School on excellent shooting. Dawe breaks down what makes Philon special, and why he would fit great for the Kentucky Wildcats. UConn, Kansas, LSU, Arizona, and Houston are all in pursuit of his services as well.
Shannon Sharpe of ESPN claims that Kentucky basketball should have at least three national titles during the John Calipari era with all of the talent UK has seen come through the program. 38 draft picks couldn’t get Kentucky more than one title? Dawe shares his thoughts on the soundbite.

2.6 steals a game for a career would be all time great on any level. Saying he's NOT HALF BAD is a BIG understatement and not giving him his full credit.
Man people are so asinine and have no perspective. Yeah Cal had talent and could have won more than 3 championships, but what people dont realize and in case they forgot he literally had freshman every year with almost an entirely new roster. Cal won 38 games in a single season twice in a 3 year span and he is the only coach to do it once yet he has done it 3 times and twice at KY. Literally every other national championship team in the history of the NCAA didn't do that. Cal coached the only team in history to win 38 games to go along with a national championship. The man has more 30 plus win seasons than any other coach, yeah he underachieved though 🤦 Willie Caulie stein was hurt in the UConn national championship game in which he was their best defender, who knows what could have happened if willie played that game. He should have won a national championship at Memphis, and Memphis was the better team throughout that entire game but a bad call late , and a buzzer beater that was pure luck by Mario Chalmers kept Cal from winning his first chip. He probably would have won a championship back in 96 if it wasn't for that incredible 96 UK team that ks arguably the best team in the history of NCAA basketball, and he actually beat them earlier that season when he was at Umass woth Marcus Camby. His stretch at UK he won more games than any other coach in that same time span, and even with his recent struggles he still is second among active coaches in win percentage. Would probably stine first if he didn't have that horrendous covid season where they lost 16 games..if Shaedon sharpe played at uk last year like he was supposed to then i think UK has a whole different perspective right now. The man has made the national championship game 3 times, won 1 and still had 3 of the most dominant seasons in history all while building an entire new team every year and getting young freshman to mesh and buy in. Anybody who thinks Cal "underachieved" while at UK is just ignorant or they forget?? Lol Cal is still the don of college basketball.

John Wall team should've gone final four. Tyler Herron team should've too. Last years team was a sweet sixteen elite 8 team. Honestly last 10 years at UK substandard other than 2015 and 2014 final four team was a freaking 8 seed. No one seeds in 8 years. Sub standard
A lot of those draft picks were busts and some weren't even good at UK

Anyone who says “should have” when it comes to winning the ncaa tournament obviously doesn’t watch the NCAA tournament. Talent or not, off nights and out of this world nights happen. The best team in college basketball seldom wins the championship. March madness wasn’t just a term made up.
