Josh Hart’s best defensive matchup of the season? Jimmy Butler. In the 106 possessions that Josh Hart guarded Jimmy, he scored 21 points on 6-22 shooting (27.3%). Funny enough, this is also Jimmy’s worst offensive matchup of the season.

normally I’d like this but this is playoff jimmy…he different
Word this is a great statistic but it does nothing for since the playoffs are all about momentum
Now that’s an interesting stat.
Playoff Jimmy is different but Thibs aināt Budenholzer, weāre not just gonna sit in drop coverage over and over against him and not double team him. This series is should be a hell of a chess match between Thibs and Spo
Grimes and Hart alternating in Butler will give them fits
Heat arenāt that good at rebounding so with Mitch we may end up seeing lots of 2nd opportunities again
this isnt the regular season
I think Jimmy is gonna get his but I think weāre gonna have success in similar ways we had success against the Cavs. Weāll see
[Jimmy knows without checking the numbers](https://www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/35998413)
Playoff Jimmy is on a whole other level but the Knicks can throw different people at them when the Bucks couldnāt (or for whatever reason chose not to):
We can put JHart on him who can match him with size and strength
We can put IQ on him who can just be a pest with poke checks and quick hands.
We can put Grimes on him who can match his size.
We can put Deuce on him just to piss him off completely.
In a bind on a switch RJ and Randle can guard him one on one in the post.
The Bucks I believe just left Jrue Holliday on an island with Jimmy and Jrue just doesnāt have the size to guard Butler.
The Knicks match up really well with the Heat and people just keep wanting to ignore that fact. And on the other end, I donāt think the Heat match up well against the Knicks cause we are gonna run them up and down the court now and when we miss shots, we will get the rebound and another chance anyway. That last game we played them, we beat them handily

Playoff Jimmy is Michael Jordan
Season Jimmy is Harold Miner
The one thing that gives me true, objective optimism about this series is that if Jimmy doesnāt go nuclear, there are few paths to victory for the Heat. Theyād need insanely hot 3 point shooting. If heās even close to his season averages weāre in a good spot.
Either of those scenarios could happen of course, itāll be a good series, but I see more paths to victory for us than them.
while encouraging, Jimmy Butler in the playoffs is a completely different beast
His entire job all series. He’s gotta be Jimmy’s shadow. I don’t care if he scores a single point, just clamp Jimmy.
Should we start Hart even if Grimes comes back? Feels like we’ll need hart to be Butler’s primary defender
I have a weird but good feeling about this match up. I donāt think heās gonna lock Jimmy up all series but I predicting game 1 josh is gonna really really make Jimmy struggle and keep him under 20 points
And unlike before, Bam and Butler are the only two trustworthy offensive players in terms of who youād have to 100% cover. I have Knicks in 6 at the worst
I was thinking about this same thing today. But then again he put 56 and 42 in consecutive games against Jrue Holiday.
Hart is so important in this matchup simply because heās not gonna get intimidated by him. Butler wins a lot of mental battles and breaks people, not Hart. Hart could get roasted for 47 straight minutes, and the last minute still play with 100% intensity.
In light of his 1st round performance, I think itās safe to say that jHart will be starting the rest of the playoffs.
