Re: Jason Dumas

The guy knows jack shit. He doesn’t have sources. He’s a West Coast Sixers fan who works for a Bay Area *MyTV affiliate* who likes to pretend he’s a serious NBA insider. He also sometimes writes for Bleacher Report, and as any knowledgeable NBA fan will tell you, 99% of the people at BR should be trusted about as far as you can throw them. Additionally, he’s the guy who came up with that [“young socialite”](https://www.nbcsports.com/northwest/trail-blazers/ben-simmons-reportedly-wants-avoid-playing-trail-blazers) nonsense.

Here’s some shit he’s reported and gotten completely wrong:

> [There are several organized groups planning to go boo \[Ben Simmons\] in Camden the day camp opens. He wants no parts of that.](https://twitter.com/JDumasReports/status/1440348126334783494) – September 21, 2021

Never happened, even when Ben showed up to training camp.

> [Source: There’s a high chance that Tyrese Maxey will be a part of any Ben Simmons trade. Rich Paul would like both of his clients out of Philadelphia. A few local Philadelphia based organizations had planned on partnering with Maxey on some community events. They were told to cancel those plans. Paul would not like Maxey to grow roots in Philly if he could be gone.](https://twitter.com/JDumasReports/status/1432801743297863680) – August 31, 2021

He had to recant this [less than 24 hours later](https://twitter.com/JDumasReports/status/1433093361108328454).

> [Kyrie is willing to sit out the \[2020-21 season\] if need be, those close to him are saying.](https://twitter.com/JDumasReports/status/1349472090294947842) – January 13, 2021

Again, did not happen.

> [Source: The Sixers hope to trade Ben Simmons tonight. The asking price remains the same. The relationship seems to be over. It’s not a matter of if anymore, but when.](https://twitter.com/JDumasReports/status/1420766989056843790) – July 29, 2021

Literally no other (see: more reliable) Sixers reporters ever ended up reporting this. Some even reported the opposite, that the Sixers/Morey were willing to wait for the right deal. Lo and behold, that’s exactly what happened.

When it comes to accuracy and reputability on Sixers news, I’d rank him below even Keith Pompey.

All of the actual big names have reported along the lines of Joel’s sprain being something closer to a 1-2 week recovery. No other reporters have said anything about it being a 4-6 week injury – not Shams, not Woj, not Shelburne, not even our local beat reporters – and I’m not believing it if Dumas is the one ‘breaking it’.

If anyone actually worth their salt reports it, or the team themselves do, then I’d be worried.

1-2 weeks also sounds right as an athlete. I think we are looking at closer to 2 weeks which is the problem is that means game 1 and 2 are in question

This is the copium I needed, you’re doing the Lord’s work, OP.

  3. Didn’t Shams say live on Through the Wire that Embiid is doubtful as he hasn’t trained?

Bruh he’s not playing G1 and that means he’s not playing G2. He can’t even get on the court. Face it, the season is over.

Keith is an idiot but he deff has sources.

  6. I’m pretty sure he googled “LCL sprain recovery time” and used the first answer, which doesn’t account for grade

we just gotta wait it out. nothing else to do

I cant imagine why an athlete, being in peak physical condition with better blood flow and mitochondrial health, top nutritionists, recovery methodologies etc etc would have a LONGER recovery time for a grade 1 sprain than the general public. This can only means it’s a grade 2 sprain and he will miss rest of playoffs

Well Vegas knows something is up. Celtics are -370 to win the series and 9 point favorites in game 1.

Embiid missing even one game would be a disaster as you can’t give the Celtics any free games. If he misses two that’s a wrap
