Giannis Antetokounmpo explains why Bucks’ season was not a failure

Two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo reacted emotionally after being asked whether the Milwaukee Bucks’ season was a failure after their shock first-round playoff loss to the Miami Heat.

The Bucks entered the playoffs boasting the NBA’s best record and were strong favourites to advance as No 1 seeds. “There’s no failure in sports,” Antetokounmpo said. “There’s good days, bad days. Some days you’re able to be successful. Some days you’re not. Some days it’s your turn. Some days it’s not your turn. That’s what sports is about. You don’t always win. Other people are going to win. And this year, somebody else is going to win. Simple as that.”

  1. If someone doesn't get a promotion its because they FAILED to meet expectations. So yes, failure. "We won the championship but we didn't succeed", said no one ever.

  2. The question was so simple. No need to get all deep about it. Their goal was to win the championship. They failed to accomplish their goal. No need to get all sensitive about it.🤦

  3. when you set your goal and missed it, that is a failure. then ask why did you fail? it’s best of 5. the better team won.

  4. Huh? What is he talking about? Cobtext. MJs teams were advancing further every year – then when they got to the top they never relenqished the thrown. You were the top seed. That cones with expectations and when you dont neet that its a failure. C'mon. Man up. Accept it and deal with. MJ's goal with the Wizards was to make the playoffs. When they didnt he said they failed to meet their goal. He said that himself. Mistakes and failures are to learn from. Stop denying it and use it as motivation.

  5. Γιάννη αυτή η απάντηση είναι ενας λόγος να σε θαυμάζω παραπάνω

  6. If he wants to bring up MJ, MJ would disagree completely. Perhaps worth checking out MJ’s “failure” commercial

  7. Great answer. Even Bill Russell had a season without a championship. Giannis has nailed it and in a classy way.

  8. Yes, it's not a failure, you're right Giannis. But with this knowledge, you have to aknowledge, that Jordan is a GOAT, because he won 3 rings after another 2 times. (Not, not Bill Russel with 11, because there were only 8 teams az the time.)

  9. Much much respect for this great human being. My respect even went higher for him with this answer 👏👏👏👏. I'm truly humble 🙏🏿.
