The Lakers after the trade deadline: – Got great role players – Have the best record in NBA – Go from 13th seed to 7th seed – Make the play-in and win – Beat the 2nd seed in the west What Rob Pelinka did after the deadline was a miracle. Executive of the Year

Like manna from heaven
You forgot the most important point —
He set the team up for future success, too.
RFA matching rights for Rui, full bird-rights for D’Angelo, Vanderbilt under contract for another season at a very friendly $4.7m, Bamba and Beasley on flexible deals that can be converted into expirings or kept as salary matching contracts for trades at varying increments, and didn’t break the bank in terms of draft capital leaving the option open to package multiple FRPs/SRPs in the off-season.
This move rebuilt the Lakers on the fly by leveraging one of our few remaining assets: payroll. Teams weren’t looking to pay Dlo and Rui and we took on salary ballast in Beasley and Bamba as well. Now we’re poised to have to pay a ton of money (Reaves too), but we can do that no problem. And before yall complain about Jeanie being cheap, we’re a top 6 payroll team and poised to be a repeater tax team for as long as LeBron is here. We made these moves to pay these dudes.
Rob did an incredible job and pulled off trades people weren’t even talking about. He deserves so much credit and we havent heard enough credit given in national media.
Kobe was right when he said rob was the right guy for the job
Has the award already been given out??? I just don’t see any other candidate unless you like the KD acquisition which I don’t considering all the defense given up.
“But…but… Rob doesn’t understand the salary cap”
One thing you can be sure of – Rob works hard as fuck. It’s why Kobe respected him so much. Am confident he never leaves any stone unturned
You can see the shit he sets up when he doesn’t let others influence his decisions. It is a joke that for most the season this sub was blaming him and wanting him gone.
Executive of the year is a joke. West signed Shaq, traded for Kobe and drafted Fisher and did not win it. The guy who traded away Kobe did.
I agree the trade deadline went well but he was the one who put the Lakers in that spot in the first place. The end result is two years of lebron wasted with a bun Westbrook.
That was all Linda Rambis
Does EOTY factor in post season success? I know most awards don’t as they shouldn’t but this one needs to be the exception because Rob deserves it
