Just thought it’d be interesting to compare us with Memphis over the recent years since the media overhypes them

While looking at the post season results, we’re actually very similar with our teams trajectories. Of couse memphis has had better regular seasons, but ultimately the post season matters the most. In recent years, they’ve been knocked out in the first round twice and made it to conference finals once (just like us).

It’s just crazy to me how the perceptions of each of our teams are so different. I feel like the media considered Memphis as contenders during the preseason when our story was that we “over reached” the year after we made our run.

If you take out the noise and bias from the media, I really don’t think we’re that far away from competing as a contender. Snyder is the best coach we’ve had during the Trae Young era. Plus, DJM and Trae should have better chemistry after playing together for a year.

If we make the right moves to our roster, I fully believe we can compete for a top 4 spot in the East next year. I mean the Cavs were #4 this year when we beat them in the play-ins last year, so it’s definitely possible to make the jump. There were also so many games we lost that we could’ve won. I think this changes with Snyder next year when he has a full season with his own coaching staff. Overall, I think there’s a lot to look forward to next season, and I’m intrigued to see what we do in the offseason.

Looks like they’re much better in the regular season than we are

It’s mainly because they are way better than us in the regular season. We are still yet to have a consistent regular season in the Trae Era.

We’re a play-in team right now, they’ve been easily making the playoffs the past couple seasons. If we had regular season success like them, we wouldn’t be running into the best teams in the league in the first round.

Trae and co. start making home court advantage with regularity and the narrative will change, pure and simple. The media won’t change talking about them until that happens

I’ve gotten used to no credit from media outlets, especially national ones… but notably, the Hawks narrative has SUBSTANTIALLY improved over the past couple weeks for the average fan

I be acting super corny going into nephews’ lives on tiktok and IG asking if they think we’re legit next year, and a good 90% say yes without a doubt.

That’s not to say the average fan’s opinion is really worth a shit, but it is kinda cool to see. We may never get the national attention and praise that teams like the Grizz get, but since the Celtics series, the hawks have been getting more respect than I’ve seen since probably the 60 win season

Remember that the west is much less talented and competitive than the east. Those 51 wins would be more like mid to low 40s in the east.
