Trading Kat now is the dumbest possible move.

We made the playoffs with 0 chemistry and Kat missing 50 games.

You make some minor moves and run it back and see what we have if we don’t like it we can trade Kat then but his value is rock bottom right now.

We also played decently against Denver that is currently 2-0 on Phoenix well Jokic is making Ayton look like a G leaguer.

I’m not HYPED about the gobert trade but buying high and selling low when when have a playoff team is worst case scenario.

Be pretty dumb to trade Towns. The Wolves management aren’t any good at trading players. If they want to trade them they will but that’s not the path to a championship.

  3. DioBrando101

Yes they probably should at some point but not this off-season is not the time.

  4. WasherDrye

Because of the money, you absolutely have to revisit at the deadline and make a valuation on whether or not this is working. I don’t see anything happening before then, but if you want value back, under the new CBA, the time to move him would be before his new contract begins.

Towns’ trade value may be at a career low. Wolves may need to get a good regular season and KAT not pissing himself in the playoffs under his belt to get near the value people that are in the “trade Towns” camp thinks is returning.

If we get a huge haul for him send it otherwise no

  7. I don’t think KAT can play the 4 or is a reliable playoff number 2 guy but they should keep him another year for roster continuity

Kat needs to show up this year and prove he is worth the money. I’m pro keep Kat but his idiotic decisions on court make me want to get rid of him. Drop the turnovers, play good defense and be efficient with shooting.

Are you going to get a better player to space the floor at the big spot over Kat?

  9. Timberbulls

Management should definitely consider it if multiple picks and young player(s) or a proven star (Jaylen Brown) are on the table.

If it’s a bunch middling role players and future late round picks then the team should hold off and wait at least until the trade deadline to see where his value is at – for better or for worse.

Turns out the beat reporters are just as reactionary as the rest of us. After loving and defending the trade last summer and giving towns his flowers they’re all calling to blow it up

I don’t think the FO will do anything until next season but there are also risks if they wait around too long.

    * Obviously, the team trading for him gets the full off-season and season of contribution from KAT instead of a partial season
    * KAT could get hurt or sick again.
    * The 2-big experiment could end up looking worse.
    * A deal in the off-season would be a lot easier to facilitate thanks to more salary space and extra roster spots.
    * There aren’t as many tanking teams at the start of the season.
    * Some teams could try to swing a big trade instead if they strike out in FA.

Assuming Ant signs max and does not make All-NBA, and Jaden signs $110 M / 4 years, in 2024 Wolves will have $155 M tied to their top-4 players, and the tax line will be around $180-190 M. Let’s say they keep Conley at $7 M, NAW and Naz will make $20 M combined, and Wolves will almost hit the tax with only 7 contracts. It’s very tough but doable. I believe Connelly will sort it out.

  13. JimmyWasRight

Dude sucks and is getting paid like an MVP.

Only reason to keep him is to rehabilitate his value enough to trick another team.

  14. Sam7sung

Trading KAT this summer would be dumb imo. He is at a low point in terms of value around the league and his money is massive. We’re not gonna get the packages some fans have been saying

  15. Queasy-Impression618

I just think ANT, Rudy, and Conely went on a run without KAT. I feel he has big shoes to fill one night he’ll crush it with 27 pts the next he’ll have dwindling defense and 10 pts. Give him a shot but don’t be surprised if he’s mid.

  16. I could be convinced either way, though if we do trade him, i would not want a package centered around picks. Would much rather have concrete talent coming in return to stay competitive.

  17. JustWinBabys

Kat has talent but he’s not a winner. He doesn’t do the things you need to do to win games. Jimmy was right!

  18. SoupedUpMoped

What are the odds Orlando would consider putting Franz in a package for Kat?

  19. sron1216

I know there’s arguments to be made to run it back since we were not healthy almost the entire year. But I just can’t watch Kat in the playoffs again. He’s just never had the mental game ant has, gets frustrated easily and then he plays fast and out of control instead of letting the game come to him. He does not have the youth card anymore. At this point in his career we know what he is and what he is not.

It really all depends on the return, because we should be comfortable running it back with KAT but I really question how the long term fit with Rudy would be, and Rudy is not really going to get us much in a trade that would help our team move the needle. KAT is a very talented player and he will be talented somewhere else and we should not be scared of that. It takes value to get value, and I just question how much he makes us a championship franchise instead of building around Ant.

I don’t read Hine much, but this was a surprisingly bleh article. Maybe it was aimed at a less invested fan than you’ll find on the Wolves subreddit, but it felt like a very shallow article that hyper fixated on money while doing little to explore much else.

Like, I actually think it’s a relevant question given the disaster that was this season, the pending tax bill, and the issues we saw from Towns yet again in the playoffs. And it deserves to be explored more fully than this article did, discussing things like Towns’ potential fluctuating value (it’s likely at a nadir right now after a big injury and an disappointing postseason), the shakiness of dealing Towns when Gobert’s fit is so uncertain, the need to identify a legitimate trade partner, etc. I get you need to write stories during this period, but this felt much more like a piece you write later rather than now.

Jimmy was right as was anyone with any BBIQ. Stuck with kittykat now. Enjoy mediocrity and hope Ant has some broad shoulders.
I lmao at articles like this
