i think it’s just KAT has been here since 2015; people are upset with him cuz they’ve known him as a a veteran

for a little perspective, it’s easy to forget Kaprizov was also drafted in 2015, since he made his debut during Edwards rookie season.

it’s hard to blame Edwards, a 3rd year, when KAT is easier to scapegoat as a veteran.

i think it’s easy to see where i’m going with this, but it’s really just a perception of time issue

I’m not a hockey guy so I can’t speak to it but when KAT came back from injury and even through the playoffs, I never noticed any bitching. At least not pre injury levels of complaining.

I’m a believer in saving the outbursts for the egregious missed calls and a little chirping on something that could’ve went either way ain’t all bad either but consistent complaining doesn’t do anyone any good.

I don’t know about comparing the Wild and the Wolves, but I do think people get it wrong with Karl.

He’s a lot stronger than people give him credit for. He does complain to the refs, but he’s far from the worst in the league, and he did do much better with that this year.

He has had some bad playoff games and it’s certainly fair to wonder why they keep happening, but he rarely gets praise when he does play well in the playoffs (games 4 and 5 this year).

People just plainly don’t like Karl and I don’t think it has much to do with his on-court play. People find him awkward and corny among other things. I just wish people could look past that stuff, cause if they did, they’d find a really good basketball player and an even better person.

  4. I’m not a hockey guy either but watching that Wild series I expected Kaprizov to do more with how much I’ve heard about him.

Whether it’s a valid comparison or not, I just wish we could find a way to talk more constructively about this team (KAT in particular) without dragging another local young star/team at the same time…

As a massive fan of both teams I can say fans are incredibly upset about the Wild’s season (and Kaprizov’s disappointing playoff performance) but also understand the team is limited with what they can do considering the dead cap from Parisi and Suter. Additionally, as soon as Kaprizov took the ice the team ascended record wise and we’re regulars in the playoffs. It took KAT how many seasons before we actually went to the playoffs?

Finally, KK makes 9 million vs KAT’s rapidly increasing 30 million+ contract. Yes, the contracts are vastly different in the sports but people see the numbers and react, right or wrong.

Ant and Kat are the best duo in the history of the Timberwolves. The fact that people want to split that up shows how stupid minnesota sports fans are.

Kinda felt like there’d be some “actually KAT was pretty good because look at these box score stats” arguments after the playoffs.

The turnovers, the defense, the missed 3s, the fouls…I think it’s abundantly clear that he’s 0 for 3 in the playoffs due in large part to his on-court performance. And I think some are unable to see that because they’re swayed by how likable he is off the court. Understandable.

Minnesota fans always blame their best player for the current franchise troubles- KG, Love, Mauer, KAT, Moss, Carter, etc.

A tale as old as time. Childish fucking doomers.

Not a great comparison, but I do think it’s crazy how much of a pass the Wild seem for their inability to win the in postseason considering they are there nearly every year. Hockey playoffs especially are really anyone’s to win. To not even sniff a western conference finals in the last decade is inexcusable.

FWIW the Wild are likely a lottery team this year without Kaprizov. He’s only been here for 3 seasons so I don’t think it’s fair to pin the Wild’s failures on him.

Yes Kapresov should play for the Wolves, and Towns should skate for the Wild (goalkeeper)

Souhan is such a homer I can’t take anything he says or writer seriously

We’re lucky to have a HUMAN like Karl be a part of this franchise. He’s a gem and I hope he gets some bling on those fingers someday.

Karl Kaprizov vs Kirill Anthony Towns

Kaprizov gets a pass because he’s still on an all-time trajectory and was a beast last postseason season. Like even with this shitty series he’s like 5th among active players in playoff points per game. There were moments in the Blues series last year where he looked like clearly the best player on the ice by a significant margin.

He definitely underperformed this post-season and fans are disappointed in him (a few people on the Wild sub are retroactively calling him a playoff choker) but it currently feels like more of an aberration because of his larger body of work.

Kat needs to try the way Ant and Kap try. It’s plain as day. Kat thinks he tries but Ant seems like he’d sell his sole if I believed in such things. Kat has a kitty heart. Ant has a heart of a fucking lion. It’s obvious to the casual fan. In Ant I trust. That doesn’t mean throw Kart out with the bath water but Kat is a baby with with a Wiggins tude. Ants got that Jimmy in him.
