Tbh Didn’t read the article but Tom Thibodeau is well know as a strong defense minded coach as well. Not like the cavs lost to a team that doesn’t play any D.

Defense paired with good offense, though, does win championships. The Cavs had the worst offense you’ll ever see in the playoffs, so they stunk. Sadly, the Knicks were light-years better on defense too, that was what was surprising in this series (to me).

Hollinger is insightful as usual in this one. He highlighted a few possessions for both the Cavs and Grizz that demonstrate the spacing problems that both teams have and he views that as the Cavs main issue they need to address (more so than issues with rebounding).

Shocking as it may be, you still have to score more than the opponent to win. Our defense was mostly fine but we couldn’t score- you need top ten offense and defense to win it all (and usually a top 5 player in the league as well)

Can you all please read the article before you reply?! Hollinger breaks down the real problem with the offense, spacing. He equates the Grizz and Cavs because they are/were playing 2+ nonshooters at a time and it allowed their opponents to clog the paint and hone in on the guards. He has clips and stats to show the impact that had on Mitchell and Garland (also Morant and Bane). This teams biggest issue going forward is spacing and shooting from Mobley, the 5th guy and the bench (minus Levert imo).

Defensive possessions end with rebounds typically. There’s no other way to say it, the NYK were tougher and made that crucial piece hell for CLE.

Our loss can be summarized by a lack of depth and getting straight up our coached. Defense was generally fine, especially with Okoro on the floor. Rubio was nowhere near what he was last year before injury, Dean wade suddenly is unplayable, Danny green provided nothing, Lamar stevens doesn’t have what we need (shooting), Okoro is great on defense but was unplayable due to inability to hit open 3’s, and our stars went cold at various times. JB’s inability to use Kevin Love (exactly the type of player we needed) leading to his release, only then to be a big part of the Heat’s run shows his inferiority as a coach to guys like Spolstra.
