Would likely be a bigger potential add than any offseason signing tbh.
Wizards/Pacers options make sense.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding the rules, but this doesn’t seem to be how the CBA rules work regarding trading partially guaranteed contracts.
>Complicating matters further is that a team can’t simply circumvent the new rules by trading a player before a league year ends on June 30, then having his new team waive him when his non-guaranteed salary goes into effect on July 1. After the end of the regular season, a player’s outgoing salary for trade purposes is the lesser of his current-year salary and the guaranteed portion of his salary for the following season.
>Here’s a practical example: Darren Collison‘s deal with the Pacers featured a fully guaranteed $10MM this season, with only $2MM of $10MM guaranteed for 2018/19. Once the regular season ends this year, Collison would only count for $2MM in outgoing salary for trade purposes.
So in this case, if I’m interpreting the rules correctly, Thad’s contract should only count for $1m in outgoing salary, meaning none of these trades are possible as we’d be taking back far more money than we’re allowed
Well, a team who would want him would want to trade us a bad salary, so we’d need a pick or two at least. But then it can get more interesting. Thad + OPJ+Malachi is $18.2M sent out, but the team can immediately cut Thad and they only pay out $11.2M.
There are a lot of teams that are in cap hell. Do the Warriors want to save whatever the luxury tax on $7M is? Maybe Kuminga is the price of that. There are a lot of teams in cap hell who 7M saves them a lot more than just $7M. I think the Warriors pay $4.25 for every dollar over the cap, so this saves them $29.75M. Clippers are now repeaters, so same for them.

If he wasn’t worth 8m, I would say keep him as a vet presence, and he plays smart basketball.
