Joel Embiid wins first career MVP award, Celtics host 76ers in Game 2 | NBA | FIRST THINGS FIRST

The Philadelphia 76ers stole Game 1 from the Boston Celtics with no Joel Embiid in the lineup due to an injured knee. Embiid is now ‘on track’ to return tonight in Game 2 vs. the Boston Celtics. Nick Wright, Chris Broussard, and Kevin Wildes debate if they can expect the 76ers to take full control of the series if Embiid returns.

  1. Philly has a better record without the supposed “MVP”

So him coming back for game 2 is not an advantage

  2. So how did Boston relax last gm they were up with under 20 seconds left in the game Wtf is Chris talking about

  3. If the Celtics go down 0-2 tonight, there’s absolutely no chance they win this series barring any injuries. Jaylen Brown deserves better & I could see him leaving if they get bounced. Hawks, Kings, Nets & Mavs are all viable options that would suit him.

  4. Teams that go down 0-2 at home (I.e. the road team winning first two games) are 4-243 all time in series starting 2-0. Celtics need to win otherwise they’re in a deep hole.

  5. Shocker CB picking always against Sixers.CB if Boston losses tonight its over. Boston D has been abysmal thats why

  6. Joker averages triple double and team had best record and league. I guess we don't want to give it to someone three years in a row. I guess they value points more than anything which is what it is good for him.

  7. Embid should thank Perkins and the rest of the black sports media an Nick

  8. As a sixers fan I can confidently say we are not losing to this team in Philly in the playoffs 🤷🏻‍♂️

  9. Jokic got robbed hard from the MVP, if both had 0 mvps now they would have given it to jokic but since jokic won back to back and embiid didnt they gave it to him, the voters are blended by history and narratives like always
Joker had in comparison to Embiid:

    – more assists per game

    -more rebounds per game

    -higher fg%

    -higher 3p%

    -higher ts%

    -more steals per game

    -higher offensive rating
    (Nr.1 seed btw)

but I guess avg more blocks and points per game was more valuable than all the other things

-Embiid had 0.8 lower defensive rating btw so thats just a bit better

  10. Wildes made a great point. 6ers might come out with a fury tonight if Embiid is back. Plus he JUST won MVP, so you know this man bout to play his heart out tonight. Sixers in 5 maybe?!
