JaMychal Green on his performance in game 2: “First series, I was struggling a bit. Then we a had a team meeting and Steph said some powerful words, and it got me locked in. I let go of everything, and I was just all about the team.

I thought this was an interesting sound-bite. It seemed that in Steph’s speech, he was really addressing the people on the team who were in their feelings about their own individual role or performance. Maybe JaMychal Green was one of those people.

Original article about the locker room speech

>According to multiple sources in the private session, Curry told the team he believed in them, that they had enough to win. He asked for their trust in return. He assured them he could deliver victory if they all bought in. He implored them to put all of their feelings aside — which sources with knowledge of the locker room felt was messaging directed at Poole, [Jonathan Kuminga](https://theathletic.com/nba/player/jonathan-kuminga-6xXExjD2A4eIrB46/) and other guys who might’ve been unhappy for reasons such as playing time and role — and lock in to the unified mission. Anyone who wanted to remain in their emotions, he told them to stay home. Anyone who was ready for their vacation, he told them not to get on the bus for Sacramento. But anyone who did get on the bus, Curry took that as a signature of approval, a binding agreement to be on board with the mission. And if they did that, if they got on the bus, he promised he’d deliver. With his game, his faith, their solidarity, they’d win.

Lakers are in desperate need of a powerful lebron speech or I don’t think they have a shot.

  2. Goodisworthfighting4

Cant remember the last time a role player who was buried on the bench entered the starting lineup in an important playoff game and was that great. Shout out to him for staying ready.

“I never rly in believed Steph before on a gut level, but then he told me to lock in”

Translation: I had my head up my own ass and was only thinking short term and selfishly, but I realized my personal interests can be better served long term by winning.

They better release these Steph speeches like Nixon tapes.

I love everything about this. Curry providing the leadership the team needed and Green buying in and showing up when it matters.

Stephen ” Jesus Christ” Curry 🙂

  20. BillowingPillows

Curious why he wasn’t locked in before the speech? It’s the playoffs, wtf else are you focused on?

Dammit dude, Steph is legend as a leader too. I have wanted to hate on him so bad, for so long, but I just can’t anymore. Steph is a walking legend.

If I see him in person I will throw myself at his feet and beg forgiveness. I will beg for death bc I was a non believer. Knowing Steph he will probably raise me from the ground and say “my child you are forgiven, get up, eat with us. Then go spread the word.” With tears streaming down my face I will stand up a changed man.

I thought that we would all die by the 3 if we lived by the 3. I see now, that to live by the 3, you will be SAVED by the 3.

Guys I think Steph might actually be God. This quote reads to me like, “come my children, nest beneath my wing, I will shield you from these tribulations and carry you to the promised land”. Now his mere words are inspiring washed deep bench players to take up arms in the name of their Lord and become effective playoff starters

Steph’s legend is growing right in front of our eye

I wasn’t sure that JaMychal Green was a good player when the Warriors signed him. In fact, I was pretty sure he wasn’t, that his job was to be the vet whose minutes Kuminga takes.

Nothing I saw during the season gave me cause to rethink that.

So needless to say, him starting (and looking mostly good) for 13 minutes in a must-win playoff game was NOT on my bingo card.

And, I mean, let’s not go crazy. He only played 13 minutes last night, around 6.5 at the start of each half.

But man, sometimes Kerr just really seems to know what he’s doing with these deep bench moves. Moody, too, who averaged 12 MPG during the regular season (while racking up 19 DNP-CDs) … gets 26 last night.

Steph is crazy man. His leadership is off the charts.
