[Neubeck] Embiid voices displeasure with timing of MVP ceremony: “All this attention can be a distraction. I just feel like this type of stuff can happen in another time. You got that whole week between the regular season and the playoffs, right before the playoffs you can do something like that.”

> It speaks to what actually matters that Embiid sat at the podium after the game and said that he wished that a moment like this was saved for the break the league has prior to the playoffs, allowing everybody to focus on basketball on the night of a basketball game.

> “I thought I got into the game and let the game come to me and not force anything, not play off of my emotions, I thought I was fine the whole week,” Embiid said. “I don’t think it affected me, but all this attention I feel like it can be a distraction, and I just feel like this type of stuff [can] happen in another time. You got that whole week between the regular season and the playoffs, right before the playoffs you can do something like that.”

> “But can’t take it for granted, wish we would have won tonight it would have made it even better. It’s hard for me to sit in here and kind of think about winning that when you’re down 2-1 and we’re just trying to find ways you can help and win games.”

> For a guy battling an injury, Embiid looked pretty damn good most of the night, flashing the rim protection and physical dominance that have helped make him one of the best players in the world on a nightly basis. That said, he was 2-for-5 for four points in the final quarter, **unable to get to the free-throw line to help boost the numbers.**

Beat reporter implying Embiid is a FT merchant lmao

Uh oh bringing out the excuses…

  2. Dat_Dere_Cell_Tech

bro cried for the MVP award all season and now say he don’t want the attention lmao

  3. jbenson255

I definitely don’t disagree i don’t get why they wait till the playoffs to give out regular season awards

  4. jack2047

Dude was begging for the MVP trophy all year now he’s trying to use it as an excuse.

If u want to be the mvp you have to be able to deal with the extra pressure and attention. That’s how it’s always been

  6. czechm800

Does this dude ever stop bitching? First it’s all Bs that he hasn’t won MVP and now the MVP is too distracting to win a game. Give me a fuckin break.

  7. Total_Customer_6627

He literally campaigned all season for the MVP, got it, and is now bitching about when the ceremony is.

  8. dash_44

Dude wins one mvp and wants to change the system

  9. champagnesupernova10

Oh is that’s why you’re losing right now, is it?

  10. Few_Mulberry5372

It used to be worse. I think Dirk won his MVP after losing to an 8 seed in the first round

  11. MajinOni21

Bruh it’s always something with this dude lol

Edit: Always felt like winning the MVP smack dab in the playoffs also gave u a target that the Super Star should welcome head on

Like giving u a level of expectations that u should be able to back up

  12. Complain for two years that the league won’t give him an MVP, then complain that he doesn’t like how he got it. This guy needs a burner Twitter account or something where he can vent this stuff.

#FREE-THROW MERCHANT FALLING UNDER THE PLAYOFF/PITY MVP PRESSURE

  14. Jo_Jaywalker

Whine until they give you the pity award and then whine about when they give it to you. SMDH

  15. seank11

Cries when he doesn’t win mvp. Cries when he does. Lol

  16. oobthesecond

Embiid whined his way to getting the MVP, and now he’s whining that he got the MVP

His team is 2-0 without him in the playoffs

  17. noBbatteries

    I don’t disagree, but

a real killer could deal with this ceremony in the middle of a series and still win games.

Maybe Embiid should be more focused on helping the 6ers win games than his MVP ceremonies. I don’t think embiid would be saying this if they were 2-1 up lol

  18. DocAuch22

Don’t think he’d be saying that if they won

  19. Trailboss1982

I hate to say it but Embid wouldn’t be complaining about that had they won. It would have been a heroic game by the newly crowned mvp.
