What were your instant emotions when the news broke?
Hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah he is fuc** out in town 🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈
I have seen other people talk negative about this decision, but true Bucks fans know this is the right decision
Bring back Brook… maybe Khris sign and trade… there has to be a consistent 2nd option.. Bud is good in regular season.. but his lack of adjustment means he can be neutralize….Ty-lue or nurse.
the only coach worse than bud was George Karl
Fact: Giannis hits a couple more free throws or doesn't get hurt, Bud still has a job.
Will you and Frank make a "we were wrong about everything" pod? Youve been choosing to die on the wrong hill for everything except brook pretty much.
We need a coach and a point guard. Hopefully, we can bring Khris back on a more favorable deal. Brook deserves a bigger paycheck and offensive role.
G. Allen gots ta go!
Thanks for a great run Bud ! One thing with Nurse , the Raptors GM had said when he let Nurse go, Nurse told him good luck with those guys in kind of a sarcastic manner , maybe he had some clashing with players, would love to know what that was about . I’m sure bucks do some looking into that. Will be an interesting decision for sure .
The coach Budenholzer eulogy…
There was so much similarity between this year's collapse and 2020. We watched a sort-handed Miami run up and down with no resistance. Bud just sat there and hoped they would start missing open shots, but they didn't.
Whoever the new coach is, if I were them, the very first thing I would do after my press conference is to take Giannis to dinner and have a long talk with him. I would say to him “you are one of the most dominant players in NBA history, and one of the best players in the NBA. However, this stagnant half court offiense is not going to change until you can hit mid range jumpers. I don’t want to see you take a three pointer again in your career unless it’s a desperation win the game three pointer. you need to shoot mid range jumpers until your arms fall off, and become deadly hitting them. Teams are expecting you to dish off to shooters or drive. It’s become predictable. The way to change up this offense is for you to hit mid range jumpers on a consistent basis so that defenders have to guard you.“
I also think it’s a great opportunity next year to get Marjon Beauchamp and AJ Green more involved in this offense. That will inject some youth into the team, which is becoming badly needed overall.
Finally, as painful as it is to say, I think I would gently nudge Khris Middleton‘s elsewhere to go to another team. He just didn’t seem like to be the same player after his injuries anymore, and at some point you’re going to have to start breaking up the older ages of the team for more youth. I think he is the first one to go in an overall process over the next few years.
Always remember
This team was possessions away from a 3-0 lead against Toronto in 2019
A Tatum masterpiece last year in game 6
Produced a contender every year all you can ask and this is coming from a person who wanted a new coach – however I’m fully aware being a great team every year is difficult for any coach. Salute to Bud and the next coach hopefully has a defensive mindset and will challenge Giannis to be better in all areas of his game. the assistant in Miami who has been with Spo forever is my 1st choice Chris Quinn – to me it’s a no brainer – he has the best perspective on this team and has been with a great organization for 10 years – then Lue and then Nurse – Kenny Atkinson or Fraser on the warriors staff
Sadness for Coach Bud for all he's been through. Frustration at the fans who were calling for him to be fired even during their championship year. Resignation that this franchise will need to rebuild after squandering first round picks for almost a decade and overestimating the team's overall talent.
Frank’s better half 😉
I just think we “should” have been to at least 3 finals. We blew it in the bubble, we should have beat Boston game 6 last year and this year was a complete meltdown at the worst time. No one would have been mad if Bud would have let his assistants coached while he grieved a bit. It’s a tough business 💯🫡
This had to happen- no disrespect to Bud. The "biggest" name is not necessarily the best choice. What's important is the philosophy and how Giannis would respond. To me Nick Nurse and Bud are basically the same. Ty Lue would interest me though…..
Did Frank actually mention Steve Nash. An inexperienced coach who was constantly accused of not making adjustments. You cannot be serious! 🤦🏽♂️
There is no reason whatsoever, to change the core 4.
What bud did for this team is unparalleled. He developed the most beautiful team culture and chemistry I've seen along with empowering each player to fill their role with confidence and adopt a mature, winners mentality.
Please don't fiddle with our core 4 management! We have a wonderful core 4– a rebuilt leads to years of learning how to play with one another. Not a good idea right now.
Damn… Jimmy Butler Broke the Bucks. GA is sulking, Bud is fired, JH wants to retire, BL is gonna walk and KM will get traded.
Jimmy Butler is an organization wrecking ball.
Sam Cassell is my vote for a new coach. The challenge with NBA coaches(and most pro-coaches) is that after a while the players tune them out. They've heard it before, and already know the system. I don't think Bud is a bad coach. But a new coach brings a new approach to motivation, offensive and defensive systems, and more than anything else to player development. One of the most critical things a coach can bring is confidence. If a team has overall trust and confidence in their coach, they play better. That diminishes over time if the coach is tuned out by the players. I really hope they bring in a coach that starts over on the offensive system, and more than anything else improves the team's speed and quickness because more than anything else they looked slow against the heat.
One thing I think we’ve learned is the “nice guy” approach doesn’t always work. The books have too many nice guys on the team that don’t challenge other people around them. Most championship teams have at least one guy who is willing to shake things up and get in people’s faces, and make sure the team stays locked in. The Bucks need to add more of that component onto their roster.
We got as much as we were gonna get out of Bud, which was a lot. Frank’s right that Bud unlocked new levels in Gianiss’s game. And I love Kane’s point that fans will never fully understand the impact Bud made because we’re not privy to the behind the scenes Bud. He gave Milwaukee fans a great product for five years. It will be fun to see where he goes next. His strength in building a drama free culture, focused on daily improvement and building good habits incrementally could help a lot of teams get their next level. Winning a championship isn’t automatic, so I’m grateful we got one under Bud’s leadership. Thank you Bud!
Heres the deal. Lets make a trade for Ty Lue and PG-13.
Ftank is so annoying
About Bud : A very good human being, we move forward…
The Bucks need to steal Ime Udoka from Huston.
So what do you guys think is going to be head coach for the bucks next year? Because I just want a coach who is capable of winning championships ngl.
No Nash!!! we need a balanced coach maybe little more defensive coach. Bud made not changes, schemes or strategies during any playoff series on defense. I like Nurse or Sam Cassell if I can’t have Mark Jackson!!! I wish we would have did this sooner. To go for Celtics old Coach!!
If your willing to cheat on Nia Long you have to be crazy insane enough to win a few championships!!!😅
Bud is one of the greatest regular season coaches. In an ideal world, Bud would coach regular season & someone else would coach the playoffs.
All of the Bucks fans should respect Bud as he was the coach in the first championship we got after a draught of more than half a century. It doesn't matter if he made mistakes or not and if Giannis was the most important reason we got it or not. He was the leading coach in a tremendous achievement especially since the Bucks are not exactly the team that has dominated the NBA so far in their history. That said I think it is a good thing that they will split ways with the Bucks, because otherwise things would become "bad for business". If for example next year Bucks started with a 12-0 win run nobody incuding our fans would bat an eye as they would say… just wait until the playoffs. there would be no excitement. And if the Bucks had a mediocre start everyone would start nagging straight away. So it was a loose loose situation to keep things as they were. Let's hope the new coach can bring a breath of fresh air in the team.
I don't know about this, but I thought Buf was the best coach SPECIFICALLY for Giannis. But you can't put Jrue Holiday to guard Jimmy near the basket considering how good Jimmy was playing. Brook Lopez was not even in the game. I think even Giannis ask Bud if he could guard Jimmy but the coach wouldn't let him? If he did then hey….Double teaming Jimmy was a no brainer. Put Khris and Wes on Jimmy Butler. I don't know this , I thought Bud was the best coach for Giannis. I would love To Lue to be the coach. I think he has that calm demeanor that Coach Bud has. I think we are hurting to see Bud go.
Lots of people wanted bud fired becauae he is white. Name ONE BLACK COACH that the media and fans call to lose their job
Giannis missed freethrows finally cost us and bud his job
great podcast today. Bud was a great coach who had some flaws and disapointments but at the end of the day he helped us get a championship and thats the goal of any team. So yes, he was a success for the Bucks. He doesnt deserve half the hate he gets (other half is probably fair lmao) and lets just appreciate his success today. I like the idea of Nurse though.
With how progressive politically Bucks are, im worried they do something stupid and hire Becky Hammond as coach
Is there really anyone out there available who’s better than Bud ?
FLY THE PLANE to Miami and hire Chris Quinn today – heck Id even throw some cash at Memphis head coach – that attitude with talent who listens ? OMG 😱
This was one of Brooke's best seasons….. the back surgery seemed to rejuvenated him
I could see bucks getting smaller and faster playing that style
Bud Bucks and Toronto Raptors are only teams in recent memory to win a chip with only 1 superstar on the team.
If the bucks hire Nick Nurse and he plays Giannis 40 mpg, is there any chance Giannis doesn't either get the scoring title or another MVP?
There's a lot of good to say about Coach Bud and the Bud era, there is also plenty to criticize. He just wasn't nimble enough in game to be effective in the post season when clubs are playing chess with each other. Seeing the same team night in and night out is just a different animal than the regular season and while Bud's methodology really shined in the regular season, the playoffs exposed its problems. Grateful for coach Bud and all he brought to us but looking forward to the next era.
I personally 1st guessed it. Coach Bud hitched his wagon to Grayson Allen. He was rewarded with a pink slip for his faith. Grayson Allen didn’t even get a shot off at the end of the game. 🤣 🤦♂️
I kept saying, Grayson needs to come off the bench and play 15-20 minutes. He’s not a starting quality SG.
Its sad but make sance
We should acnoledge the legendary service of coach bud. Eill always be thankfull
Please get a different guest
I'm a newer bucks fan…like first basketball game ever was seeing them win the championship in their final game (won tickets) and fell in love with this incredible guy everyone was chanting mvp for. i know my place in the fandom then makes me little bandwagony, but even i was thinking this is probably something that has to happen. you just cant have such opportunities squandered. i hope Mike can land on his feet and be successful in his next endeavor
As I said give the bucks Ty lue, they will win it all
I would look at Mark Jacksom, Quin Snyder, and Vogel
Kane, do you recall putting me on blast in one of your episodes, when I said back in early March that the Bucks were looking like a first round exit if they didn't get their defense together and every plan relied on Giannis. You felt the need to put me out there as an over reactor. But I explained to you exactly what our issues were that could lead us to going home earlier than expected. You and many others dismissed the points I were playing. Did I see us losing to a hobbled Heat team? No. But by the end of game 3, I knew we were cooked. There was so many negative signed all season that most fans overlooked. They were like blinding emergency lights to some of us. Hopefully this was a wakeup call to the front office and they make all the difficult decisions that needs to be made. The Bucks will come back stronger than ever next season.
Bud made as a contenter. A very fragile one but still 5 years we were the most successfull team in the regular season. We got one championship and who knows of khris and giannis didnt get hurt last two years what could have happened. Last year we battled it out without khris but this year we collapsed. We will forever be greatfull to Bud this shit isnt easy to get
