Going from Nick Nurse to coach Budd is not taking a step forward in the right direction.
Whoever we pick I say don't trade OG and whatever you do put Scottie Barnes at the center of it. We need to prepare him to become the future superstar we think he will be.
Bless up Chev. I have a question in regards to winning a championship. Do you think that due to the fact that the Raptors is the lone Canadian team and we are outside of the US. We will get the extra fight not to win the chip? Am talking about fights from the refs the media etc. Also when the Raptors win we take away a lot of earnings from most of the major cities in the US.
Becky Hammond, or Jerry stackhouse in my opinion but I'll take coach Bud tho, they'll never let us get mark Jackson 😅💯
Bud was part of the Coach Pop coaching tree and he himself have a few head coaches that worked as his assistant. His resume is stellar. Sure I have the same criticism of him regarding in-game adjustments, but that's not what we need else we would have kept Nurse. We need a guy with experience as a development coach, players or coaches a like. This guy has like 20+ years coaching in the NBA. Lets not worry about in-game adjustments when we're not even in the playoffs yet. We need better players first. He turned Middleton into an all-star, MIDDLETON.
Some people love him and some people hate him but all I'm saying is finding a winning coach in this era of the NBA especially for the raptors is like finding a needle in a haystack. I personally would go for it for better or for worse🔥🔥🔥

I pretty much want Becky Hammond and nobody else at this point. I'll be satisfied with whoever Masai and Bobby choose, but for now Becky is the only coach I want.

People love to talk about adjustments but it’s so easy to make the wrong adjustments as well being too experimental
If the Raps can somehow pry Stackhouse back from Vanderbilt he would be the best candidate at this point to me. He may rub some players the wrong way, as a few players transferred away from the program as a result, but they prolly soft. He has improved that program immensely in a couple years and is ready to use everyone on the bench. It would be a disappointment if they promote in-house, a guy like Griffin or Earl are not the ones.

I still think I’m going coach Hammond. I’m interested in Bud but he may be still low vibes next season and needs to cool off first from his family loss.
Hammond seems to have her team buy in for the chip. I’ve seen demar and dejounte support her too. I hear she has the right balance of smiling and meaning business. I can see Scottie buying in. Pascal game elevates when he has fun like he did before the bubble and start of last season and Nurse and staff (along with selfish players) was not that last season except for Trevor, his interviews always seemed refreshing. Basically made the game not fun for Pascal and all that extra pressure on him as usual as if he doesn’t get to work and doesn’t get buckets. Hopefully she can shut Fred’s hero shit down while still keeping him on board for the team. Only real factor is if raptors want that 1st woman coach distractions. Every candidate looks good but if we’re going new I’m going with that spurs pedigree
Better off taking an assistant, a recently fired HC is gonna result in more of the same mediocrity, they're jobless for a reason. If you had a transcendent roster then yeah, take the safe coaching pick. Eg. the Lakers were fine with Vogel because LeBron creates a team structure on his own, they just need someone to hold the clipboard an not do anything too stupid. But a team that's trying to outplay their talent like the Raptors? No, you need something special, you don't need proven, you need exceptional, and finding someone like that involves risk and unknowns, but every good coach has to start somewhere. For as much as you credit Brad Stevens, he was a college coach before the Celtics gave him the job, you don't think the gamble paid off? TL:DR if every team plays it safe and recycles the same coaches around the league, the next elite coach doesn't get discovered. Someone's gotta give someone new a chance at some point.

@nbachev I want to hear you speak directly to the flaws with Mark Jackson. Personally I think the league has blacklisted and that the only reason he is on the sidelines. But I love that chip on his shoulder for us. That’s our brand, if its not right now it needs to be. I just see Scottie Barnes and see as the supersized version of Mark Jackson the player. Playing point from the post. Its not a coincidence Draymond developed into a superstar under his tutelage. The league knows he built Gstate, players do for sure, on air commenters know it too. Gstate management did him dirty. People forget that Kawhi was a castaway when Ujuri traded for him, he had serious chip on his shoulder and in one season the narrative was changed. Jackson is the man for the job. Let’s hear your rebuttal.

We need a coach that knows how to make adjustments quickly. That’s needed in the playoffs when you play a team at least 4 times
I bet Masai hires Jordi Fernandez, he was the brain of the kings offence and his playbook is intricate and not just 3 man weave like nurse.
I get where you're coming from, it's just the coaches that do have his number, like Spoelstra and Nurse really have his number.. he's a hard headed coach, not a bad coach at all, game to game he's elite, but raptors fan base will always have that sweep after dropping 2 fresh in their minds, so that's why you're getting those "doesn't adjust" comments same with Spoelstra just studying what nurse did and executing it well,.. and you're right every coach has some coach figured out, but Miami and possibly a Nurse led Bucks both in our conference is a problem…
As for who would be a better coach, honestly I couldn't tell you, maybe that person hasn't even presented themselves yet, if it is Bud I'm not gonna get angry, I just want to see someone not even expected, wtv Massai and Bobby decides imma fck with it

I distinctly recall knowledgeable Bucks fans calling for Bud to be fired midway through the season they won it all. Giannis saved his ass, 💯. He never would have gotten this far without Gia and the roster. FO surrounded him with shooters who can defend and hit 3s. Bud didn't have to do anything creative (which is lucky because he is incapable of thought and just stands there looking dazed the entire time). A dog, literally a dog, could have coached that roster to a chip.
Now, that team is aging out and he's exposed for the bum he is. The end. Ciao 👋

For all the people who say "Bud is bad at in-game adjustments", well, look where Nurse got us, not even past the play-in. In-game adjustment is not what the Raptors need right now. Who has improved over last year? Nobody except Siakam, and all that credit goes to Siakam himself. Barnes and Precious are the two who would benefit the most from development and showed nothing. You gotta blame that on the head coach. In-game adjustment is worth squat when you have no games to play in the postseason. Lets not dream to be millionaires when we can't even save up 500k. Nothing is perfect in life, there is no perfect coach, you have to find the coach perfect for your situation. Our situation is player development, not winning championships. This roster is not winning squat, that's a fact. There are a lot of good shooters in the league, but some reason Bobby and Masai keeps prioritizing defence first. Time to wake up, defence first doesn't work. Masai even admitted that finally, you can teach someone to shoot, but some are just born with natural talent. Lets find those natural talents. Every team is mimicking GSW, find shooters, teach them to play defence look how much the King's improved by getting Malik Monk and Kevin Huerter (so happen, coach is former GSW assistant), but FO wants to not be copy cats and doing it the hard way. Makes zero sense. FLYNN should have been something by now (horrible draft btw, I don't know what front office was thinking drafting a short skinny kid).

Cute strawman, but it has nothing it do with instant gratification. He is known to be horrible in in game adjustments, as in he DOESN'T DO them. Thats why he is only good for the regular season, since no one really game plans.
Raptors don't have giannis to save his ass, so good luck with that 🤣. But he might get you ti the playoffs but thats it..

I agree we overestimate the coaches ability to impact winning. Players win games. As a coach you need to keep searching for ways to climb the mountain. You can't rinse and repeat and hope for better results. 5 years of Giannis, 1 ring? Naw man. What is the alternative? Wait. All those franchises going championship or bust will dislodge quality coaches. My #1 choice? Ty Lue. Obviously Spoelstra but that isn't happening. I'd like to see Stackhouse get a chance. I watched him coach all those 905 games when they won the title. He is intense with a capital I. You're on the right track with bringing in a retread, which is exactly what Budenholzer is. We need exactly what you are describing. Relationship is #1, before strategy, skill development (leave it to Rico Hines) and everything else. Don't jump the gun and settle, wait for the right person.
Im a bucks fan , and i watch every game . But i also have the utmost respect for the Raptors. Budenholzer not the right coach for them. Hes too easy going . Allows too many mistakes .
