[Youngmisuk] When told the fan was Mat Ishbia, Suns owner, Jokic replied: “Sitting on the court. He’s a fan, isn’t he? Yeah. Whoever it is, he’s a fan. He cannot influence the game by holding the ball.”

  1. I get ppl think Jokic is being a little hot headed but idk how you can’t support the player here

  2. pskill43

He’s right. There’s no reason for him to hold on to the ball like that. Zero reason

  3. Note-To-Self1

This sub so pro Jokic I can already guess the comments

  4. opkpopfanboyv3

Fuck all that owner bullshit, they’re not untouchable just coz they stack paper to the ceiling

  5. Fate_Unseen

Who needs water when there’s this much juice!

  6. V-Right_In_2-V

Can’t argue with that. Jokic did give him a shove but my god I hope everyone forgets about this tomorrow

  7. BumayeComrades

I can’t imagine if I did that I wouldnt be tossed immediately. Guess when you own the team the rules are different. I wonder if that privledge extends to other areas?

  8. EchoInExile

You still can’t throw an elbow or touch a fan. That’s it. End of story. Jokic has to be smarter than that. Had to know better.

If this were Draymond or Ja, this sub would be FURIOUS and they’d have already announced a suspension.

  9. saltlessfrenchfriess

I dont think Ishbia was doing anything on purpose and I dont think Jokic deserves to get suspended

  10. Usual_Adhesiveness92

Hes not wrong about the fan part,

But I kinda disagree with influencing the game thing.

Ref has to pass him the ball on an out of bounds play, its not like they would have got a 4 on 5 with Okogie still on the ground.

  11. DynamixRo

I’ve concluded that the only fair ruling for both teams would be having Jokic sit on the bench for every minute Ishbia is on the court for the Suns.

  12. postal_service3

I don’t think them playing up the fan angle is gonna give them any good graces with the league. Whether Ishbia held the ball or not is irrelevant, players **can’t** put their hands on fans like that no matter the circumstances.

  13. purplebuffalo55

He didn’t influence the game though, the ball rolled right into his lap and he was helping okogie up. Even if jokic had grabbed the ball, the ref wouldn;t have let them inbound it until everyone – namely Okogie – had time to get back up. Besides, he gave a little elbow to him, you can’t do that …. not after Malice at the Palace

  14. TerrorSquadron

How exactly was he influencing the game?

  15. earthgrasshopperlog

i do agree that ultimately, if you’re sitting in one of the spectator seats, you’re a spectator. I don’t expect players to be aware of who every fan is.

  16. OfferOk8555

I’ve come to the conclusion that you’re all annoying and wrong.

  17. ADoverEmbiid

Kenny and Shaq acting like Jokic would have acted differently if he knew who the guy holding the ball was really revealed how deep their innate American sense of bootlicking goes.

There was never any chance Jokic was going to suck up to a rich asshole just because he happens to own an NBA team.

  18. Insert_buttplug

I went to Matt Ishbia’s wiki to read up on him and 1) he got his job through nepotism (big surprise)

And 2) his father is Jokic.

Lol, someone listed Jokic as his father, soon changed however.

  19. Judo_Nuggets77

This is getting old pretty quickly. Dont hold the ball too long, alao dont shove a fan both things can be true

    ITS INSANE READING THESE COMMENTS

Like people can’t agree on the pure fact, with high-definition multi-angle evidence, that Jokic legitimately used his elbow to shove Ishiba.

There are legitimately people arguing that it didn’t happen. That’s crazy. “He just put his elbow up and Ishbia happened to be there.” No you crazy mother fucker lol. Jokic put his elbow up to back the dude out of the way.

Like I get saying it’s not a big deal. That it wasn’t violent. That no one was hurt. Argue those points all day. But arguing the reality that it even happened…wtf

  21. LyonsKing12

Brother, you also can’t put your hands on spectators.

  22. I feel like I’m being gaslit. Jokic’s behavior wasn’t acceptable. Folks are acting like Jokic politely asked for the ball and Ishiba stared him down before telling him to fuck off.

I feel like because it’s the playoffs you don’t necessarily want to suspend him but ehhh maybe a fine.

  23. PM_ME_hiphopsongs2

I don’t know why Jokic is tripping though. It was a dead ball. The time was stopped. Why not let the refs do their job and come over and take the ball to resume the game. It falls on them to do that, not Jokic. He really thinks that Ishbia holding onto the ball in the midst of the chaos for an extra couple seconds is really gonna change the outcome of the game? Come on

  24. RealLanceStorm

He knew what he was doing. He felt he could get away with it because who he is and he got away with it because of who he is.

  25. vscxz384

Fan cannot hold the ball, but players should be walking up to them either.

Both in the wrong just fine them both and move on

  26. If that was LeBron and some random fan, then fan gets thrown out and nothing happens to LeBron.

And I agree with Jokic, in that moment Mat is just a fan and the same rules should apply. I do think Jokic overreacted, but it shouldn’t make any difference if it’s an onwer or some other fan.

  27. ajkundel93

Jokic was going after the ball like it was his fucking Epipen. Everyone acting like Ishbia was playing keep away with the ball, dude had it for literally 3 seconds. I don’t think he should be penalized, but it was aggressive as hell.

  28. xkittenpuncher

Think it’s fair that Jokic vs Ishbia should settle their difference in a hell in a cell match.

  29. AIHallucination

The fact that Jokic didn’t know he was the owner makes this worse, not better. It means Jokic went into the crowd and grabbed the ball and shoved a random fan who was helping a player up. Every part of that’s totally unacceptable. If it wasn’t the owner, this could have been another lawsuit.

The refs manage the games, not the players.

  30. 2AlephNullAndBeyond

The only story here is that Jokic is like 40% of this sub and didn’t understand that he wasn’t about to get a 5v4 advantage.
