Damn, I live in Fort Wayne and it was always nice having that as an option to watch locally. At least we will always have the Komets.

Any guesses on what they’re going to rename the team? Always thought Mad Ants was a great minor league team name, sad to see it go

  3. Damn. I was hoping FtW would build a Fieldhouse downtown to keep them here. Knobsville getting this makes it even worse to me. Suburbia Roundabout Hell. Why anyone would go to a G-League game there is beyond me given that a real Pacers game will only be a short drive away and is cost comparable.

    Damn.

I just don’t get teams moving their G-League teams into NBA cities. I understand what the article states, but I feel like fans aren’t going to want to attend G-League games if they have an NBA team in the same city. I could be wrong, though.

Does that mean they are leaving Fort Wayne?

As a Fort Wayne resident who has attended exactly one Mad Ants game, I don’t know how to feel about this. I guess folks around here get their minor league sports fix from an incredibly nice Parkview Field and a Coliseum that buzzes with excitement during Komets games. It’s too bad the Pacers didn’t just build a smaller place for the Ants to play here. Back in the day, we lost the Pistons. Now, this.

Can someone explain how doing all of this is profitable? Not to mention, they’re moving to a city 1/5 the size of Fort Wayne. Doesn’t make any sense to me.

As a mad ants season ticket holder, this really bums me out. It’s really good basketball and a family friendly environment.

However, it became increasingly apparent last season that the players don’t live in Fort Wayne. They live in Indy and travel up for games. They played a lot of their games at Gainbridge- just so KP could watch.

I’d hoped that the NBA was going to lean into making the G league an attractive basketball league on its own merits. But having G League teams near the parent teams is about convenience for team leadership.

Guess I’ll be watching more high school ball. Go Legends!

… They’re building a facility in Fishers. Why not move there?

Next time you cry over somebody needing an extra $10 in food stamps to buy ONE DOZEN of eggs, remember this.
