where are the kings with harden instead of sabonis?
TheMoorNextDoor
Yea Marks might need to be fired if this is true

I don’t think Harden would have played ball to the kings

We don’t know the rest of the trade or trades or if this was really gonna happen. But this is our 9/11.
Remember we still had kyrie. It’s not as if we would be adding him to our roster right now. Which would be literally amazing. Probably wouldn’t have ended up like that.

Harden was completely checked out during that final stretch. Particularly the game at Sacramento. *I guess the kings were blown away by his 4 point performance*.

Didn’t he play his worst game for us against them?
nash929
They may have, but there will be no way Harden agrees to go to the Kings. He would have definitely vetoed that trade.

I will never be a Sean Marks fan (except for drafting Claxton)

In hindsight, this looks bad, but 1) no one could have known Haliburton would become an all star a season later and 2) a prime Simmons at the time was legitimately a really good fit for us. We just got shafted since Simmons hasn’t come close to what he used to be before. That being said, Curry and Royce have done well for us all things considered
Acrobatic-Dog7044
Harden would have sabotaged the trade somehow by leaking reports that he wouldn’t resign with the kings or would sit part of the season there is no way he would have been okay with going to Sacramento.

Harden’s last game as a Net was 2/2/22. Halliburton was traded on 2/8/22.
As soon as the Kings game ended, we should have called Sacramento. They were reported to be interested in Simmons and offered Haliburton for Simmons to Philly. Instead, Marks waited until the last day to trade Harden when multiple sources already reported his disinterest and we had evidence during the Kings game. He mishandled that situation.
Haliburton would have filled the Harden role as another playmaker alongside being a catch and shoot threat off KD and Kyrie. Instead, we came out of this trade with a projected lineup of Kyrie/Curry/KD/Simmons/Drummond. Wtf was the plan with that lineup.
